Jonesy is right, we will get who we need to get..

Look at Alvin Henderson.

Its very apparent that Freeze kept telling him he was 1a but Auburn would have to look around. Then the conversation became, well son, we got a couple on the line, you bess fish or cut bait, cause once we move we have crossed the Rubicon......and suddenly ole Alvin makes his decision.

Hey Smuphy,

JLee said the same thing you said on his show, just chill, July is gonna be something special.

fricking brutal

These recruitments aren’t over, but these summer commitments are a little more solid than the spring ones since we’ve had a round of OV’s now

That’s the problem. Everyone looks for yella fella to foot the bill. Not gonna happen I don’t think. He’s a lot older now and probably doesn’t like NIL would be my guess but he will do enough to have a competent roster but don’t think he will buy and elite roster.

That’s my opinion and seems to be about right so far

Agreed sir.

I am certainly not second guessing the Staff but perhaps we should have allowed a few of them to announce instead of having them wait. We got burned with Scroggins who in my opinion the most underrated recruit in the class. Hope we can recover still long way to go.
I was told to RELAX when questioning the decommits that it’s far from over.
BUT it is hard to do when these kids are chasing money.

I questioned it and was told Woodby info not released yet.
State gave Lockhart close to 1 million. Aubie had him around $300,000. Not paying a linebacker 1 million dollars plus his brother plays at State.
As I understand it Woodby has close to same deal with Maryland as Lockhart with State.
Just what I am told. We will find out soon how reliable.

I don’t believe it either Randy. But if true no LB is worth that. Way to many that can get the job done then to pay that type of money. Hell
That’s borderline 5 star QB money. Like 5-10 high school QB money. 1-5 is a little higher. And all other positions aren’t close.

I bet Walker White’s NIL is probably something like 200k a year

Thorne was 500k for 2 years so 250k a year for a 2 time 3000 yard passer

So what about the other 84 players on the team. If Im one of them Im meeting with the coach. Hey you gave me 50 grand, I may not be worth a million, course I dont know what its worth cause he hasnt played one friggin down, but Im at least worth half that so bump my pay to half a million.

When the coach says, you have an NIL contract, I will say yep and Im gonna play like a 50 grand player and come of the line with the same vigor as an 81 year old, and come fall Im in the portal.

In other words bullshite on these numbers floating around, its the agents doing it. Unless you believe Ms State NIL budget is approx 40million USD annually.

Betcha many of these kids have "agents" like some of these dads who are taking the cash on the side and serving up their kids for peanuts.

Yeah that’s not how that works. If you’re a 50K player and start coming off the ball with the vigor of a 81 year old man. You’d be lucky to get $500 out of the portal in the fall

That’s why this new generation of NIL is destined to destroy college football as we know it. I can admit I believed the players needed some monetary value to what they bring to the school especially when it’s Top 30 teams in the country.

I’m a capitalist and will never back down for that so it puts me in a hypocrites point of view. That’s where the amateurism comes into play for me. Regular students that bring value to the university through scientific experiments, academic achievement that brings higher academic standards, nor do student employees get the type of money that football and basketball players make.

Therefore there has to be some type of pay structure that is developed. Especially that comes through the University or a university affiliated collective. I also think that also they should be able to independently market themselves but none of the independent marketing options can come from an Alumni or Booster. Ex. yella Wood can offer Cam Newton an advertising deal while being recruited or play for AU. Same for Phil Knight of Nike and Oregon. If he wants to sign someone not affiliated with that program say some player at Michigan or whatever yes all good. All those words to say enticement has to be eliminated.

The easy legal answer to any lawsuits that come up are to the players you have the option to go play pro ball anytime you want. Maybe some high school player chooses to do that. Good luck young man.

Those are the only fair, legitimate, and restored the amateurism nature that college athletics should be to hold this thing together.
