I posted a while back that he’s absolutely bigger than listed and runs bigger than he is. The Kamara comparison is pretty spot on, in regards to his build and style of play. He has a blue collar work ethic and that’ll help separate him from guys of similar size and athleticism down the road. I’m excited to have him on board, but we could flip Nick Chubb tomorrow and it won’t matter without an offensive line
Cobb reminds me of Devan Barrett with less upside.

Looks like the same/similar film to me. Barrett was a Top 150 player IIRC.

Devan Barrett

Jeremiah Cobb

I think we can both agree that he's no Bo Nix. No reason for us to be ridiculous.

This staff even whiffed on this guy. It’s going to be Alabama.

It’s comical at this point.

Just comparing the film from the links you provided (DB’s senior highlights vs JC’s soph/jr highlights):

- JC puts his foot in the ground and consistently has quicker, cleaner cuts. His change of direction is noticeably faster than DB

- JC’s track speed shows up on the field more than DB’s. I vaguely remember DB having some sort of a track background (as most skill pos. football guys do), but it doesn’t jump off the screen like JC’s. JC has a gear that didn’t show up for DB, and he hits it much faster.

- JC is an elite pass catcher for a RB. A few showed up on the film but I’ve seen many more in person. His QB is a lefty with a cannon and does not hesitate to throw into tight-to-non existent windows… much more often than not, JC comes down with it. He’s a true RB in every sense, with the hands of a WR.

- Both guys are listed at nearly identical sizes, but I’ve mentioned before that JC is filling out in a big way. He could easily report to AU around 205+. Honestly not sure what size DB played at while at AU, but I do know that JC is packing it on and uses what he’s got in a Kenny Irons type of way.

I have the benefit of knowing Cobb personally but I can understand how the two seem comparable from their size and film. I’m curious as to why you say Cobb has less upside than Barrett though

Clemente posted an article on the QB Board:

1. Is obviously Glenn and believes he'll have a decision sometime this month and Auburn, FSU, tOSU, and LSU are the top teams for him.

If we miss out on Glenn he posted 4 other scenarios:

1. 3* Kasen Weisman out of Douglasville, GA. He completed 62% of passes for 2,035 yds, 6 int, 17 TDs, and ran for 289 yds and 8 tds. He suffered an injury to his throwing arm and is working back from it. Auburn will likely wait to offer after it's made more in person evals and reviewed more game tape.

2. 4* FSU commit Chris Parson. He's someone to keep an eye on especially if Glenn commits to FSU. He rated higher than Glenn as the #16 rated QB but Glenn is still the main choice for Auburn.

3. 4* Purdue commit Rickie Collins from Baton Rouge is someone Auburn has evaluated and could try to flip him with the Louisiana ties on staff, but he's said he's " locked in" with Purdue. He's still someone to watch if we miss out on Glenn.

4. We don't take a QB this class. After this season Finley still has one season left of eligibility, Calzada has 2, Ashford has 3, and Geriner assuming he redshirts will have 4. So that's 4 QBs that Auburn likes and will still have enough eligibility.

Finley won't be here next year. Almost a 100% chance he transfers after this year.. wouldn't shock me if he enters the portal right after Calzada is named starter so that he can get ahead of finding another school.

If we miss on Glenn I'm betting on us finding a mid tier transfer just to help with depth.

He will transfer again as a graduate transfer. You can only enter the transfer portal once before being a graduate, IIRC.

He could still enter the portal but would have to sit out a year wherever he landed

Don’t think he will do that. I think he’s close to graduating.

Ashford is our wild card.

Holdy has a nice quick release. We have plenty of mid tier prospects. I think QB is one of our most stacked positions.

I think we all just need to accept recruiting will not be positive until there is an uptick of performance on the field. I get that’s a catch 22 when you don’t have players but if we can scheme well and if players can play above their talent level (Hars obviously loves the hard working type) then I think we can return to form.

Lotta ifs in there but that’s the reality

That’s fair enough and most realistic. It’s quite possible we never get to that stage though.

I said what was mostly realistic beforehand. This board, man.

I asked earlier. What are the positives of the football team?

Clemente posted an update on Keldric Faulk he said Auburn's still pushing hard, but thinks Faulk chooses Florida State. He posted a link to the Florida State 247 who posted that they think it comes down to Florida State or Clemson, but with how close he's playing it they wouldn't be shocked if he chose one of the other 2 (Auburn or Florida).

The Florida State writer said he talked to Faulk and said he has a good idea of who he's picking, but won't tell the staffs of those teams who the pick is until 30 mins before he announces at 11 AM on the 5th.

Mcelderry to Bama, not a surprise. Seemed like everything was going right in June only for it to crash and burn in July lol.

That was from our own staff telling our reporters that things we're looking good.. I think most of us have realized in this last month our staff can't read recruits very well. I will keep pointing back to Faulk.. they thought we we're leading for him and about to get his commitment. Turns out we're probably running 3rd and he will commit to Clemson or FSU tomorrow.
