100% agree. If we can do for NFL, as I thoroughly enjoy going to Steeler games that have backed seating a place for your drink, etc...
but even though we are wining and dining recruits to exponential costs, we are not keeping up w what the fans want for comfort and necessity at a college sporting event....

What coach in his right mind would like the added complexity of NIL? Seriously, a coach already has to deal with pampered little brats, now you have to beg AND pay them a fortune to get them to come play, not an envious job.
I hate it too Utah, one silver lining, if they get paid and arent performing, the portal can fix their arse real quick. I like how Saban is filling his gaps in the team with the portal....and shatting out the non performers at the other end.

Sometimes as fans we look at a man trying hard and we see a guy we can relate to. Most of us appreciate the work Harsin is putting in. I have no doubt he’s busting his arse.
If Harsin can’t navigate the portal and NIL it’s understandable. A real goddamn nightmare. But if he’s not that guy then there’s a guy out there that can do it and that’s ultimately the job right now.

Clemente has a new confidential out so here's a rundown:
— he expects Cobb and English to commit to Auburn despite English pushing back his commitment date.
— What's went right and wrong in recruiting:
Right: Auburn's been building relationships and getting recruits on campus and while that hasn't resulted in immediate results they're building toward the future. Every recruit left their OVs with glowing reviews and a lot of that was because of the small things they did like Brahms player hosting Connor Lew who wants to become a pilot.
He also gives Auburn credit for the camps that they hosted and the recruits they got on campus for the camps like JC Hart, Air Noland, Kamari McClellan, Hevin Brown-Schuler, and English.
There are other big name and fringe recruits that Auburn got the chance to see but haven't offered yet. He was told by recruits and attendees like parents and coaches at the camps that they enjoyed their time and getting to spend time with the coaches.
Wrong: Auburn exited the month with the same amount of commits they entered the month with, and they are one of 2 schools the other being AZ State with 2 or less commits with AZ State only having one and they're dealing with a lot of sanctions.
He said that the February debacle has handicapped the staff and other schools are negative recruiting against them, telling recruits that the staff may be fired after this season. He said that it's impossible for Auburn to overcome that until the season starts and they start winning. The first 5 games will be a make or break for recruiting.
— Don't write off Cedrick Hawkins even though he said he was fully committed to Ohio State, Clemente said after he talked to trusted sources, to not write him off that it won't be easy to flip him from Ohio State, but Auburn's not giving up on him due to what he said during the exit interview and there's a reason Auburn hosted him on an OV.
— on Russaw and Smith he said Auburn, Bama, and UGA are the three main schools and they're expected to be a package deal and this weekend's OV went strongly for both and has kept Auburn in the hunt with both recruits and if Auburn has a 8-9 win season and a competitive NIL deal that they would be in a really strong position to land them.
— He expects Auburn to aim for multiple commits at big Cat and the list is already shaping up to be full of talented recruits.

To which the AD should very-publicly out the lowlife bastard$ who are responsible for this backstabbing. Him putting a couple coffin nails in those SOB's fan day experience would speak volumes to every fan, player, and coach who's pushing this agenda. And it's not as if any will ever financially pay enough** to cover the damages they've willingly or (just) stupidly incurred. It's the only quick fix for negative recruiting.

I think you are forgetting that Harsin was a shitshow before our boosters stepped in, not because of it. Things were off the rails LONG before our boosters stepped in.

That didn't justify the hit pieces that were coordinated against Harsin. The school/boosters/whomever fricked Harsin and the staff completely with that.
Negative recruiting is all it will take. New president hasn't said a word. Nothing.
The folks that want him gone will get their way after next year

I think youve got that, backwards, the boosters STARTED the shite talk and the press and weak kneed "Auburn" folks were quick to jump in. Hell they all but called him racist with absolutely no proof whatsoever, attacked his fricking family.

I don't disagree. Doesn't make it right they did what they did.
However I was in the camp to go ahead and fire everyone since we had come that far.
Either way - once that hit was done, we have a lame duck staff this year.

I feel like most are trying to assign total blame to one party when in reality it looks like both parties had some major screwups that have only compounded.
Posted on 6/30/22 at 11:15 am to AA7
Anyone putting the blame on the PTB aren't remembering the facts of that situation. Derek Mason and many outgoing transfers made allegations again Harsin (we don't know what specific allegations) and Auburn rightfully investigated those allegations and found nothing to them. Everything else was made up on message boards or by media members trying to get clicks.

Nothing Harsin did warranted the personal attack that was directed toward his marriage, to his children's potential opinions of their father, and to this squad of current players. Whomever is responsible should be weeded out, pubic-ally tar and feathered, and their personal copy of 'The Creed' taken away in public as they're forever escorted away from Auburn. There was no justification for the fictitious load of crap they were marketing.
. . . And if they could have done so for football reasons there wouldn't have been the race baiting claims and tales of made-up infidelity.
