I think the only major hurdle in the transfer portal is the no back-to-back years transfers without sitting out a year. Example Dreshun Miller will have to sit out I believe if he gets picked up.

I would assume 25 MM is the life of this classes "contract" over 4 years. Hence how it is structured they lose the money if they leave TAMU. Spread over 25 recruits, that is less that 200k per year per recruit. That number sound familiar?
ETA
Bama was paying a backup OL 200k in the early 90s. That is worth 350k today.

It'll work itself out even though it looks like a free-for-all right now. A&M's big money guys are going to get tired of paying millions every year. There is also the logistics: several of these million-dollar signees will be busts, whereas others will get buried on the depth chart. How long do we think that some guy who's shelling out $1 mill a year for a 3rd string LB is going to be content to keep contributing?

That I am sure of

This I am not sure of.
To claim this is the same thing that has always happened is ludicrous.

I don't think NIL will really change college football that much.
No offense, but you're wrong. It's already obvious.
The best recruit in the country went to Jackson State. The best freshman QB in the country is leaving his school to start a bidding war for his services. Texas A&M just signed the best recruiting class in the history of the sport. It's only just getting started.
You are right about the portal though. It's equally damaging.

Pretty content as long as they are winning titles, which they will with the amount of talent they will have.

There’s almost 0% chance the barstool thing is real

If they are winning titles, they will be happy.
Who is gonna spend their money on a 6-7 team. The NIL is going to snowball hard, so I hope we aren't afraid to swing big

Whether it was Barstool or somebody else, he got paid to go to Jackson State.

Here's your problem: not all of these schools can be "winning titles". Which is why this looks nice in principle, but will slow down once reality hits and the return on investment doesn't match the output. The SEC is a meat-grinder regardless of recruiting rankings. A&M already has more talent on their current roster than most of the teams they lost to this year. Go look at their losses: Arkansas, Miss State, Ole Miss, LSU. That's three teams that are less talented than them, and they lost to an LSU team that had fired their HC.

Ok, you can be in denial all you want but it's virtually impossible recruit at the level they did this year and not play for/win titles. I don't know how people still don't understand this. It's not "all of these teams", they are the top. By far. It's not even really close.
It's not like they moved from the top 10 to the top 5. They signed the best class of all time. Ever. If they stack another class or two close to that they will make the playoffs in the next 3-4 years.

So you think that Alabama and Georgia are just going to roll over? Those two teams are already a full step ahead of A&M; if anything their spending spree is just getting closer to them. Schools like Texas will start to match whatever A&M is doing too, so it's not like they'll be the only school trying this. Furthermore, some of these recruits will start getting offers from teams where they'll actually be able to see the field (ie: $1 mill to go ride the bench at A&M vs. $1 mill from a school that has open playing time tomorrow).
It'll even itself out.

Sure but only 5-6 schools even have the capability/willingness to do it at that level. When that's all you're competing against you're going to win eventually.

This may happen and would be another way NIL will change the game. However, what we've seen so far is more the opposite. Great players that start get sold a bill of goods to go to a program and then realize it's not reality end up at Alabama or Georgia or (insert top program). Eli Ricks and Gibbs being two recent examples. Arik Gilbert is another though then he had a mental breakdown.

I really think it'll end up being the top 10-20 schools who are willing to fork out that kind of cash for players. Honestly, probably not much different than it was previously.

did all of those early NIL deals go away? I haven't seen any ads or brand endorsements since like that first couple of months

It’s better now that it is open and allowed by all than just who Mark Emmert wants to allow to get away with it.

Either we play the money game or we don’t. Won’t change my fandom. Hell who know we could run off 10 straight championships or say forget it and play D-2 ball. It will take 5 or so years to see where this goes. First years seems insane and no way most teams with get into that $30 million game for some knucklehead 18 year olds.
Here is my question… or concern… you have say a running back coach that makes 450k a year and bring in 2 running backs making $1 million each. Lol

Those are peanut deals. The real money is from multimillionaire boosters, not $5,000 to shoot a Milo's ad on Instagram.
