I would say you should probably take the emergence of Georgia and Texas A&M recruiting uptick into account, but for some reason we think 2013 environment should be judged exactly like 2021.

Without looking them up, how many of the 4* players can you name today?
(Hint: Jeremy Johnson was the biggest contributor)

Lots of ways to separate from DBs He’s not slow. Just won’t be Schwartz
THat's what I wanted to know. I didn't see his film, and I realize that the video highlights are also dependent on how good the coverage on him is too.
He fits the mold then.

Again, you have to look at all factors present in a new HC.
Gus had already built HS and recruit connections while he was our OC for 3 years, and he was only gone 1 year before he became HC.
So he had a local rep, and connections, which definitely hsould have helped with his 1st recruiting class.
As someone said, it's not just about comparing 1 year to another HC's 1 year. It can work both ways.

Gus also didn’t have to deal with a 6 month dead period when he was first hired. The need to compare the two coaches on here is getting sad. We have one group that is still butthurt and feels the need to blame and compare every little thing, then there’s another that is still clinging on to the hope that he just needed one more year and that we made a mistake by letting him go. You’re not going to change the other groups mind.
The dude is gone and there’s a reason he’s at UCF. For the love of all that’s holy can we stop shitting all over the recruiting thread with the battered wife/Stockholm syndrome back and forth? Maybe we need another pinned thread

If you want to look at 2013 class (adams and lawson class).
after the shitshow 2012 well I guess nick marshall, rudy ford, peyton barber artispayne and daniel carlson was lest productive than J Johnson.

Yeah it’s generally used when guys are recruited at numerous positions. Sometimes that’s because they’re “raw” in the sense that they aren’t polished at a position.

JLee put up a new War Room today. Not a ton of new info but he does spell out which positions we're looking for and some top candidates. Sounds like we aren't going after a QB in earnest until bowls start finishing.

In other words, you could have replaced every single 4 star player in that class with no-star long snappers, dropping the class from #10 to somewhere in the 40s - and the productivity over the next four seasons wouldn’t have changed a bit. Nor would it have likely hurt our won-loss record.
No point in comparing a class 8-9 years ago to our current class. But you do you.

quote:If thats the case then be prepared to miss out on all the top guys. They aren't sitting around and waiting. We're got some decent players through the portal under Harsin so far, but we always seem a little slow in that area to me. Like we wait too long to try to get involved and by the time we do there's just too much ground to make up.

Im no expert but I agree we should be hitting the portal hard esp for a qb and oline. I was shocked they didn’t bring any oline from the portal last yr but I attributed to how ling it took to get our coaches in place. ATM didnt waste any time and they brought in a top class
