it's encouraging to get a couple of O-linemen.
IMO, how you recruit and develop linemen on both sides of the ball determines the team’s potential.
It is no accident that Georgia is undefeated.
They are two deep across the fronts.

Seems like this staff knows this.
As a fan, getting a 4 star OL vs a 4 star dual threat QB whose highlight tape is 10 minutes long isn’t the most exciting thing in the world, but it’s yeah absolutely true that the trenches make the difference. If we can get another OL commit in this class and maybe a transfer guy with some experience, I think it’d be a great start. Hopefully we can get a couple more DL guys as well, we sure need it.

Man I hope our coaches are smart enough to be hammering home early playing time (if they play up to standards, at least). I'm confident they are smart enough...but there's always a little doubt in my mind.
I'm not at all convinced recruits are smart enough to comprehend the legacy they could leave (and career potential) if they are part of a successful, championship caliber rebuild over the next 2-3 years instead of trying to start at an Alabama or Georgia who are already winning but also already absolutely stacked with talent ahead of them...

Can’t worry about the rankings until signing day. Tons of shitty classes ahead of Auburn that we’d absolutely melt down about. Rankings are a cumulative score. Auburn’s average star rating is better than 11 teams in the top 25
Gotta see where things land when everyone’s class is full

Yep, VTech is ranked 18-19 but I’d be very concerned if that was Auburn’s class right now.

Khurtiss Perry dropping his top 5 today. Not sure of our chances with him.

but Woody, Bobo, and Harris all project inside right?
As Jones said, yes and no. Harris could play inside, but we are looking at him at tackle. Bobo is a center most likely, and one we definitely need. Woody yes is inside.

We jumped Vandy the world isn’t coming to an end today at least.
Bobo and Harris are good pickups the past week. Still an extremely poor class
You really know how to ruin the moment, don't ya?

We’ll be in it. Perry has a close friends at Auburn. However, Bama missed on a couple of DL guys and now they’re making him a priority which is always super bad news during the Saban era.

The longer his recruitment goes the better I think our shot is. I think he really meshes with the guys we have on board. I know EJ Harris tweeted something like “gotta get Khurtiss Perry to Auburn” and Perry replied with a “WDE”.

Dude relax, we are 15th in average rankings with a lot of spots left. We are filling needs and should be higher but these rating sites dont rate kickers high. I like how the class is filling in.

Yup. And with the portal, it is better to just wait than take a chance on a low 3*

if we can get Perry and Clemmons, that's huge for this class and our current needs. i'm hoping we can get a couple of late blooming DL guys or possible some help from the portal.

Maybe we can still flip some other kids.

On DL, I agree and we need 2-3 more. Perry from Mtg. and/or that beefy guy from Lousiana that our competition is recruiting as well. I haven't heard much about him in a while. Again, the portal could be huge here.

The reality is that LSU is going to fire Coach O, hire some really big name coach and keep most of their recruits.

There just aren't a lot of those type HCs out there. And their present situation is far from ideal, no matter how fertile their recruiting grounds might be.
My guess is they end up with either Napier from ULL or get Aranda back from Baylor, both of which would be very solid hires and probably very successful at Red Stick - but neither would be considered 'big name coaches'.

quote:I'd usually agree, but Woodard has a philospohy of hiring big names and it has worked for him. He hired Petersen at UDub, Jimbo at aTm, also their basketball coach that was very successful. That's his MO. I have no idea what happens though.

maybe we will get a little lucky with poor timing on their decision-making, regardless of who is actually the new coach. if O loses a game to ole miss or arky in the way he did to UK, he may get the axe before season's end, in which case we could take advantage before they announce a new guy.
but yeah, i also have no idea what will happen lol.

quote:Remember what happened to us last year: our entire coaching staff was dismissed a few days before early signing day, the writing was on the wall well before that. If LSU moves on from Eaux earlier than that, say after his fourth or fifth consecutive loss (definitely a possibility), who are they likely to have locked up before mid-December this year? And how hard to you think the current staff will be pursuing their current class knowing they will likely be moving on?

That's assuming there's some slam-dunk guy out there and Woodward is already talking to him (or his agent), which I don't think is the case despite Woodward's rep.
I think it's safe to assume they're about to cut bait on the Shrimp Boat Captain. We'll see what happens and when, but I think we'll have an opportunity to take advantage on the recruiting front.
