I know Jonesy has typically said not to expect too much of a reaction from recruits due to one game but…will today’s showing have any impact on the 4,000 recruits at the game?

Crowd and atmosphere usually have more of an impact than outcome. As far as outcome goes we punched them in the mouth and the game should have been a lot closer but guys didn’t execute. The staff should be able to sell the fact that there are opportunities for guys if they execute.

There’s a lot of factors that go into recruiting

Fit and opportunity
Program culture
Campus and gameday atmosphere
Guys want to play in big games
Guys want to play on good teams and in good position rooms
Winning
Draft results and NFL success

And there’s more personal reasons like location, friends, distance from home, climate, facilities, etc

Auburn checked a lot of boxes today and I think that’s the important thing

Nice - appreciate both those takes. You guys know a lot more about it than me. I couldn’t tell if the crowd was still in the game late, but have to imagine at least for first half the atmosphere was what it needed to be

Hard to tell on TV because they get to decide the level of crowd noise that comes into the broadcast. These kids play football and they know what stadiums feel like when they’re losing so that’s not as big of a deal as it’s made out to be

But the game day and support is obviously huge and accounts for a lot. Auburn was a circus today and fans were present and fun despite a 14.5 line. That’s stuff matters, especially when a staff is selling vision and opportunity

Crowd was very loud most of the game. Atmosphere was about as good as can be expected with the product on the field.

JLee said earlier tonight that all the recruits seemed to really enjoy the environment and have good things to say.

I’m pretty salty seeing Javion Cohen doing so well for Bama. He was supposed to die in a fire.

Cohen hasn’t graded out well but it is surprising he even has an opportunity given the talent there.

On recruiting — recruits aren’t as emotional on a game by game basis as fans are. Like I said, those kids play football and they understand what it feels like to trail or lose and they know how crowds react when that happens.

This 2022 class will get shite on but I hope people see the 2023 turnout and understand that recruiting is a multi year process. This visitor list is better than any other I can remember. Build on that and move forward

Well you have been harping on this for weeks now that 2022 was never going to be a great class. That 2023 was the critical first recruiting group that Harsin needs to be top level. Those that keep complaining about 2022, don't seem to remember those real analysts, and common sense recruiting.

Javion Cohen

I forgot the whole story on him. Did he flip to Bama or what?

I do remember him talking a whole heaping pile of shite about Auburn after he signed at Bama though.

Yeah he was a mid 4 star OL that was committed to us for awhile. He was shite talking Auburn and flirting with Bama before he even decommitted. When he finally decommitted he shite talked Auburn some more

Some quotes from 247

quote:

“It was a great atmosphere,” Williams said. “It was a real electric game.”

quote:

“It’s a great school,” he said. “A great fan base. It would be a wonderful place to play.”

- 5* DL Mykel Williams

quote:

“Even though they didn’t come out with the win, I still enjoyed it,” Parker said. “The atmosphere was great. I’ve been to games at Alabama, Florida, Auburn and Tennessee. I’m going to North Carolina this upcoming Saturday. (Saturday) the fans went crazy on every good play they made. Even though they were down most of the game, they were still cheering like they were up. I really enjoyed the crowd.”

-4* DL Tomarrion Parker

quote:

“Yeah, yeah, of course I’ll be back,” Smith told 247Sports' Jason Caldwell. “For the Iron Bowl, everything.”

quote:

“It was good,” Smith said. “There’s a lot more student involvement here.”

- 5* DL James Smith

quote:

“I like how the defensive line played,” Perry said. “I think Coach (Nick) Eason is a great DLine coach. The are a very great defensive line. “It was a great game,” he added. “I liked the fans. I liked the atmosphere. I liked the student section. I liked how people came and treated me like family each and everywhere I went. I felt it.”

quote:

“Yes sir. I feel like I could make an impact at Auburn. Auburn showed me much love. They are most definitely in one of my top spots.”

Say what you want about the situation but based on my understanding this is Harsin personally beating out Georgia for a recruit. He's projected at C, right?

He’ll likely play center or be a utility type of OL that they can plug into different spots if needed
