That’s a good point. If the AD and the boosters are in step then there should be less division. I remember when the AD gave Malzahn a “blank check” to go get Muschamp before Gus completely lost favor. Our coaches can get that support back again.

It's arguably the reason why Saban has had so much success at Bama. He tells the boosters to jump, and they ask "how high?"

If '15 hadn't been a dumpster fire of a season, Malzhan could've reached that point.

He’s had success at Alabama because he is a once in a generation coach. Sure the non-meddling helps but that’s not the reason why he is successful.

He is a great coach no doubt, but he demanded freedom and the REC’s full support and he was CEO. Now he came in with some clout winning a NC at LSU but make no mistake, had the REC not been in lock step with Saban he might not have seen all the success he has had. Still would have won a lot but not to the level he did, and who knows if he would have stayed.

You hear it from him and other successful coaches. Having every facet aligned leads to a better overall program. I hope we can find it.

This is all I have been calling for and because we struggle to get in sync it is known in the coaching circles.

Bottom line for me, if Harsin is not the guy he’s not the guy but if we don’t fix the PTB, Admin, AD, Boosters, etc being in sync. it won’t matter who we bring in, or we need a Sabanesque type hire where he comes in swinging his Dick around and getting people in line. That’s highly unlikely.

Bama boosters were a bigger mess than Auburn’s ever thought about being before Saban. Out of desperation, they gave him whatever he wanted. If Auburn had a guy like that coming, you can bet they would get in line very quickly.

I've never understood the rush to fire Harsin. There's never been a good explanation as to why we would get rid of him. We are now in a position where even if he wins, I can't imagine him staying. Why would he?

They gave him control, but if he hadn’t started winning big quickly, they would have been all up in his stuff.

I don't really know if we would. I have my doubts.

For one, he wasn't allowed to hire Zak Hill as his OC. What a bunch of buffoons, not allowing the HC to hire his buddy as he's about to get railed by the NCAA for an encyclopedia amount of recruiting violations.

You sure?

Dont forget that Saban was Mal Moore's guy. As AD, Moore had a lot of clout and Im sure he cleared the way for Saban to operate with let resistance from the AL PTB. Who at Auburn would have that kind of power to clear the way for a Harsin or any future AU coach?

Bama had the right mix of desperation from the boosters and coach with enough clout to give him the reigns.

I remember going from laughing at Rich Rod turning them down to going “oh shite that’s a fricking good hire” real quick

Also Kaufman starting at S is interesting. I didn't think he was very good last year... Very Christian Tutt-ish. Hopefully he's improved his coverage.

They raved about him in fall practice.

Thought he was going to be the nickel though

They didn't list the nickel position but did a new position called the "stud".

I think he's starting at both. When no nickel is on the field he will play S. When they bring a nickel on he will play that and Bridges will play S.

Deion Sanders will get a way better job than Jackson State.

why do I keep seeing his name?

Auburn fans don't want to give Harsin his due for what he has accomplished "because it was at Boise St.". What the hell has Sanders accomplished?
