Its not a rumor. Hoke confirmed it.

Edit to clarify.

Hoke confirmed from Calzada that he didn't know before ESPN

Tom Green confirmed from Finley that he didn't know before ESPN

And Hoke wouldn't say who, but another reporter confirmed with Ashford that he didn't know before ESPN.

WTF. That's shitty

This really tells me Harsin don't care too much about appeasing Auburn folks.

Typical. This guy is not a good coach, not a great recruiter, and continues to do stupid things.

Not trying to defend the guy, but how do we know it was Harsin who leaked it to ESPN?

For a guy who seems like a players' coach, to let them find out from the media would be way out of character.

He probably leaked and told them to hold out a few hours so he could tell them then he, his wife, and Clesi got caught up in a drag race and he forgot.

I think Harsin is a good coach, I don’t think Harsin is a good coach for Auburn. Here’s to hoping I’m wrong about the state of the football team though.

You're right. If he didn't leak it or didn't authorize someone else to leak it, then I expect him to call ESPN out

Pretty big deal in my opinion

So, all that confirms is that the players hadn’t been officially told before the ESPN leak dropped.

Harsin has shown he has no real love for reporters and the media. I think the rumor of him doing this and not telling the players is garbage unless actually proven otherwise.

eta: Yep, I'm not biting.

The type guys Harsin has gunning for him wouldn't think twice about going to ESPN just to piss the local media off. Just saying it'd be big money for someone and small change for them to see him squirm.

Throw ADAG into the mixed of what he's faced already and it's not so far fetched.... it's been like a cheap TV-movie bad year for BH.

You should tell the players competing before you tell the AD the PTB the teammates. And the only 2 coaches that would know the starter is Harsin and Keys.

Hasn’t it been reported that TJ, Ashford, and Calzada found out from the espn report?

This is an unreal shite show.

Two separate things, both confirmed.

Confirmed the players didn't know before ESPN. Also confirmed from Hoke (he didn't say how he knew) that Harsin was the one who told Chris Low.

quote:

Yes, I'd absolutely stand by Harsin giving that news to Chris Low, and I'm not the only one.

His exact words.

He hated the media at Boise and there were only a few that covered them. Go back and look at some of his weekly conferences. It's like Saban in attitude. With all the additional coverage and the shite that Auburn has to deal with, I bet the seething hatred is much worse. I bet the knives come out if he has a good/great season.

It could have been discussed in a staff meeting and someone just outside the inner circle overheard. Admin Assistants could have been preparing press releases and they squealed. There are several ways this could leak besides Harsin going to ESPN.

Why would Harsin give a flying flip what ESPN knows. You guys are in the clouds sometime, besides what are we talking a 30 minute lead. Who gives a flying frick. Auburn football tweeted it not to long ago.

Secondly, you have no idea if the players weren't told this before the news today. All you are doing is speculating so.

I’ve said before that TJ is a quality backup and I’ll stick with it. It’s disappointing he is starting but he’s no Neil Caudle. He has the tools and knows the offense to be a drop back passer that can win us some ballgames. He gives us about as much of a chance to win games as anybody else does on our roster.
