I'll add.. people rip on the Jaylin's and Flanigan's for not being better but those guys aren't supposed to be the guys carrying you. They are important pieces of building great teams in college ball these days but shouldn't be carrying you.

The key is having Jaylin's and Flanigan's supplemented with elite freshmen/sophomore talent i.e. Jabari, Kessler, Cooper, Okoro types. And we just don't have that at all on this roster. Not sure we will have it next year either although I think Holloway is a very nice piece.

2024 we will have that, but will we have Jaylin/Flanigan types to supplement those Frosh? Hopefully Broome will stick around.

So where are we in terms of recruiting? I know we’ve got 2 current 4 star type pg/sg’s coming in 24. Do we have an elite center or forward targeted?

We are beyond lucky to have Bruce and what he’s done. I get that we all want to be top 10 and a 2-3 seed in the tourney but I will take an invitation every year if that means we’re the last team in or not. We all know this team isn’t great. But it’s light years better than we were before he got here. And he has studs coming in. We’re ok

Agreed we are lucky he came here but he’s hit a dry spell recently. 1 combined SEC tournament/NCAA tournament win last year was a huge disappointment and this years team doesn’t look like it’s going to improve that number.

Studs coming in doesn’t guarantee success. He had Walker Kessler and Jabari Smith and the team was playing awful at the end of the year.

Meanwhile Alabama has done extremely well two of the last three seasons. They could legitimately win the National Championship and are probably a shoe in for at least an elite eight.

We have two top 50 guards for 24 and a top 90 center for 24. The forward we thought we were going to get surprisingly chose Rutgers. Not sure if we have some forward prospects we are going after.

We are definitely going to need to get some transfer forwards.

For 2024 we’ve got Peyton Marshall also committed. Really big kid that is an old school center. Doubt we get much from him early but he’s huge and athletic for his size.

Flory Bidunga is the top player left on the board. Cincinnati is the favorite for him though. If we got him he’d likely play the 4. Athletic freak. My concern with him is I’m not sure of his shooting ability, but that’s also based off the little film I’ve watched.

Ace Bailey chose Rutgers over us and he was a guy I really wanted. He’s a guy who can create from the 3 spot. He goes to McEachern so I’m still holding out hope, even though flips are kinda rare in basketball.

Cam Scott is another guy that’s on the board but not exactly sure if he’s a take yet with Pettiford and Philon on board. I think he can play the 3 for Bruce since the 2 and 3 spots are so similar. He’s more of a pure shooter than Philon and Pettiford.

‘24 is set up to be loaded but we need to start working on that team this upcoming offseason via portal. Hoping for both a 3 and 4 with multiple years of eligibility left

The fact we haven’t heard any additional 2023 names tells me Bruce plans on hitting the portal hard for any needs.

Barring any surprise flips, I’m thinking 4 transfers to add with Aden for next year. I’m convincing myself the “Covid year” eligible players are moving on.

I’m hoping A&M sneaks up and takes the regular season SEC crown from them. Then again I can’t stand Buzz

Did we do well last season or no?

Have you ever watched the NCAA Tournament? Anything can happen.

We did extremely well in 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2021-2022 by any standard. Best program in the SEC over that time span. Having a decent year this year.

I agree. I want his opinion specifically on Auburn last season.

He keeps saying we were one of worst teams in the SEC last year at the end of the season so probably not

While it didn't end very well it was still clearly a great season. Certainly not the beginning of a "downward spiral"

Really hoping for a pain-free 25 point victory tonight.

9 PM tips suck for employed people on eastern time zone. If I can turn it off with 10-15 mins left in the second half, with a comfortable lead, I'll be happy.

We can also confidently say that we didn't have 1/3 of the team tied up in a murder either.
