Maybe. Maybe not.
Our final four year we were struggling halfway through the year. However, we had much better shooting from the perimeter. To me right now, Bruce has to do one thing. Start giving Allen and KD’s minutes to other players. Guarantee if you start spreading those minutes out, someone is going to step up.
Allen has been trash for 2-3 years now, KD is getting worse. Give them a break and spread their minutes around, maybe one of them will break out of their funk and a bench guy will shine.
It will be hard to do, but that’s why he’s the HC. If you want to win, that’s what you have to do.

Allen was bad last night but was on a good run of 5-6 games of solid play and he's a good perimeter defender. I agree on KD though. The time has come.

Yes he has been better the last few games, but last night reminded me how much he has struggled

Yeah I feel you but I just see him as less of a problem overall than the 2 spot which has just been a mess this year. I'd love to try anything else there

Did you miss them being ranked #2? Their team is a heck of a lot better than our team was last year. We were fake news.

I can’t believe the melt over one lost game
Sometimes one team shoots it well while the other team doesn’t. Welcome to basketball. It doesn’t mean take your ball and go home. We have some of the most miserable fans

I'm not happy about losing to a pretty mediocre team at home either but this melt was predictable.
All the posibarner basketball folks who were convinced this was the deepest and potentially best team Bruce had ever put on the court got a little down in the dumps early then sprung back to life when we feasted on bad teams. Now we're in the hard stretch and reality is going to come rushing back that this is a very flawed and limited team (albeit, still plenty competitive at times).
My only real gripe is that with the schedule we needed this one, we've got to hold serve at home in 50-50 type games. That part hurts a little, but otherwise this is just how it's going to be.

I was somewhat like this preseason but changed when I saw we would be getting nothing from Traore or Westry this season. The floor is high due to the vets, but those were the guys raising the ceiling.

Just like football, a coach beats bama and we give him a huge extension and buyout because of emotions. Then pay $18M in the buyout when we have to fire them.
Yep, the Auburn way.
You are equating what Bruce has done with Auburn basketball as the Auburn way?
You think Bruce will need to be fired before he chooses to retire?
That is just off the mark like some of our shooting Tuesday night.

It's because they are looking at it through a football lens and lack knowledge of how this basketball thingy works.

So true. It would take a legitimate period of failure before I'd wonder if Bruce has lost his fastball. We aren't even close to that point right now.
I understand people see a final four and I want more of that too. And I think Bruce has raised the standard, and has put us within the margins of where maybe we could have a final 4 quality team every 3-5 years. So I can see that it's frustrating when we have glaring roster holes like we do this year.
But it's basketball. 1 or 2 players working out or not working out can complete flip a roster. The exciting thing is that Bruce has us well within the margins and is showing sustained success regardless. The tourney is a crapshoot but we are positioned to keep throwing teams in that crapshoot with decent to high seeds. I guess all of you would be frustrated with Cal and Barnes too but who knows?

And it wasn’t even the offense. We played about how we play against decent teams. A&M just shot it well. We are gonna struggle against big physical guards. But even they shot better than expected per their average.
It’s always 1 game at a time. We have a chance each game to beat anyone but also to lose to anyone.

Pretty obvious that the misses piece, or pieces, from this team are Chance Westry and Yohan Traore.
Neither have done anything noteworthy this year, and Auburn typically relies on a freshman heavily…especially when they are 5* talent.
Jabari Smith Jr
Sharife Cooper
Isaac Okoro
Those 3 were the alphas for us.

And we were ranked #1 last year. You keep moving the goalpost on what it means to be a successful program. First it’s making it to the sweet 16 despite what a team does in the regular season and suddenly bama being ranked #2 means they’ve surpassed Auburn, despite the fact that we are the winningest program in the conference over the past 5-6 years.
Again, it’s clear you’re either trolling or having some irrational melt so I’ll let you continue with whatever this is and bow out

Bruce has been incredible. Honestly, we’ve just been a touch unlucky. Imagine if NIL had come one year earlier and Cooper is our PG with Walker and Jabari last year. We would’ve been so damn good.

You are correct and it goes deeper than that. I mentioned this awhile back and others have chimed in since last nights loss with some of the same points that are worth repeating for those that don't follow recruiting or roster management as much as some of us do.
Let's just pick one particular off season not that long ago, Auburn lost:
1. S. Cooper
2. J. Powell
3. JT Thor
4. J. Johnson
5. T. Alexander
6. D. Sills
Nobody, I mean nobody could or should have predicted all of the above would happen in a single off season. And for anybody following closely, all but one of those players were guards. And let's forget about that NCAA cloud that was hanging with no resolution at the time. Bruce made many forget about all that by bringing in two guys you might remember...Jabari Smith and Walker Kessler.
No, I don't think they are a complete team this year and that's okay...for this year. Circumstances can change rapidly in basketball as noted with the above. I'll get worried if Bruce & Co. make missing the tourney a habit. Check the SEC landscape, we've been holding our own and then some. Hell, I'd go as far as to say the Bruce hire changed many SEC AD's minds about basketball being a priority.

Lol at leaving out this quote. We were absolute dogshit the second half of the season. Alabama is the real deal.

You’re outing yourself here. 1 year ago today (read: as far into the season as Bama is now) we were 19-1 and #1 in the country.

It’d be wishful thinking to think Alabama is about to have the complete collapse that Auburn did a year ago. We were a fraud.

We didn't play our best ball in March but to call it a collapse is willful non-enjoyment. We lost 3 SEC games and won the league outright. I'm done here, I hope Hugh Freeze meets all your wildest expectations my friend. I don't even know what points you are trying to make.
