Just like AU didn’t play football in 2012.

As terrible as we have been. We have a legit chance at the SEC tournament.

If AU goes 7-2 in the SEC, they're 12-18. Win 3 more in the SEC Tourney and AU is 15-20 overall in it's SEC record. Overall AU would be around 32-25. Long odds but possible, IMO. Mizzou and aTm are garbage.

Slow down bro. We aren't winning 3 SEC tournament games

Exactly. Our relief pitching had to just hang on the 2 games we won. We were one bad pitch from losing both of those games late.
We still seem to have to have a sizable lead late to hold on too.
Relief pitchers have to start throwing some zeros to give us a chance to win or sweep series.

We need to pull a Rays and start our bullpen guys, then put starters in late.

Bullpen blows another game... 3 run triple in the 8th

It just messed up our 1 run loss syndrome.
Relief pitching simply can't hold anyone, and it's someone different every game it seems.
Just look at their eras to see...

I am telling you. Just start the bullpen guys. Try and get 4 innings, then put starters in.

What a mess this season has been.
We had to move our best starter back to the bullpen. Fantastic.

So you want us to lose games in the first few innings instead of losing the game late?

I want to try a different strategy seeing how the one we use each week doesn't work

Thompson said he was trying different things already since he kept thinking they would turn the corner but never did.
So he is pulling guys quicker, at least he said that and it showed in the series win against GA.
But he didn't do that against LSU last night, as our reliever walked 3 guys in a row, before Butch replaced him with SKipper, and he is the one that allowed the triple that broke a close game open...
It doesn't matter seems to be the results. Relief pitchers are just not doing the job, and it doesn't matter where you pitch them...
...But I do understand where you are coming from...since it is continually frustrating...

quote:I don't remember who said it, but the person on this board said we have a lot of pitchers that are the same. Same arm slot, same speed, same pitches and same stuff. I agree. However, what just absolutely kills AU this year is the walks. Its absurd how many we walk, especially out of the pen.

I didn't like Todd Walker as a player, but he's a really good color guy. He mentioned this a few times during the UGA broadcast. Something to the effect of, if there's no one on base, a pitcher can slot a fastball over the plate and if its hit there's a 75% chance its hit at someone for an out. When you start walking people and do it as much as AU does it only takes one hit in that inning to put up a crooked number, and we seem to have this scenario often in games.
