Is this the year out past 2-3 classes start showing up? IMO, the past ups and downs have been because of our lack of depth. But I feel like Gus has put some quality classes together now.

Gus has been putting quality classes together nearly every year he has been at AU. Problem has been inconsistencies in player retention & development.

FWIW Keith mentioned Tahj Gary a second time in about a week when asked about RBs. May be worth keeping an eye on.

Just did some digging on Gary. I either didn't know or forgot he visited AU June 22nd. He supposedly has a top 8 though w/ AU not in it. Keith usually doesn't just randomly throw names out there though so

I'd rather have Jamontez Woods over Gary, just personal opinion. Interesting though as you said.

Rusty says seems like Andrew Booth & Colby Wooden will be playing together in college....

Ladarrius Cox as well per Rivals. Also though either Khris Bogle or Kalen Deloach said at the Rivals 5* challenge that he would be there too. I can't remember which one. I get them confused.

I’d be fine with an ehh RB haul if we still end up with a top five class. If there’s one thing Gus has a proven track record of, it’s creating production in the run game, even with an average back, i.e. Peyton Barber.

Talent wise Barber was not average. The only reason he ended up a 3* is he blew out his MCL I think it was his JR HS year & missed all of his SR year.

Do y’all watch the games? Just because our RBs put up numbers doesn’t mean they are great backs. Kerryon last year was the first time since Mason we had a RB maintain a high level of play. Guys like Barber and CAP and Petr are some a dozen guys that looked decent in our system. Yes Gus has proven his RB will put up numbers but where CAP may put up 1300 a elite back could go for 16 or 17 hundred.

Yes he was. He was a bull that rarely got knocked back at Auburn but his talent was limited. His 40 at the combine was a 4.64 (which is slow for a RB) and he wasn’t especially quick or flexible either.

He had the 4th best 3-cone and the 3rd best shuttle among RB's as well (can't just cherry pick his pedestrian 40-yard result). Either way, its hard to quantify him as "average" when he's currently holding down an active roster spot in the NFL. Not at a dime-a-dozen position like RB.

This isn’t a very good argument, players develop and progress at various rates and Barber didn’t hit his stride until he joined the bucs. There are a ton of examples of backs who were elite in college but failed to even maintain a roster spot in the NFL and vice versa.

Good call. Just checked & it was Kalen Deloach. So early list of uncommitted guys looks like

4* LB Kalen Deloach
4* WR Jalen Curry
3* DE Colby Wooden
3* DT LeDarrius Cox
3* DB Nehemiah Pritchett

I forgot about Wooden earlier too. My guess is Booth makes it too but won't know for sure until he shows up. My guess is the majority of AU commits make it. Big one to watch is George Pickens as he's said he might visit Bama

It’s pretty hard to ignore that he only beat out the FBs in tbe 40. He was also near the bottom with his broad and vertical and 12th in tbe bench.

He has average talent and his vision at Auburn was abysmal. He plows ahead as a RB on an NFL team with shitty RB talent. Sure, he’s the starter now, but he’s a discount to what they would’ve been paying Doug Martin.
