Willis is better than Cord
Not being a smarty but it blows my mind how anyone thinks Willis will be a good QB. Show me anything because I haven't seen it! I want to be proven wrong!
If doublebubble is the coach next year chances are MW will be the starter and we are looking at another 7-5

Ben Wolk (Rivals) indicated Gus and Porter went and visited KB today. Unknown if other coaching staffs also got a visit.

So, this can mean we are giving it one last pitch, he is truly undecided, etc. or he gave us a signed letter. No word on if Gus was smiling when he left.

installing the read option will be enough to move the ball with Malik

I keep seeing people that want to just run read option with MW. I'm sorry but from what I've seen of him over 2 years now, he either can't read it or thinks he has Nick Marshall athleticism. Which he most certainly does not. I've seen many times when he is in when the most obvious read is to give the ball to the back and he pulls it and tries to beat the defender to the edge and doesn't. He is either dropped for a loss or strung all the way to the boundary with minimal gain.

He's obviously not very talented throwing the ball or we would have seen more of it by now. Hell, I think we were one of the few teams to even give him a shot at QB coming out of HS so that should say something about his arm talent I think.

Malik, imo, is certainly not the answer to our needs at the position moving forward. If he's the best we have, then I'm afraid we are looking at a .500 or less 2019 season. I'd rather us take our lumps with Nix than turn the offense over to MW.

Maybe you got a downvote due to your signature at the bottom of your post??? What’s that about anyways?

Now I have more downvotes... Well I'm not buying you downvotin sumbitches a drink at the Music City Bowl that's for dayum sure!

Thanks for asking and WDE!!!

I don't think we've seen enough to know either way. When he was in games it was usually very situational. He had some good plays and some bad plays this year.. Jeremy Johnson looked like he was money and we see how that worked out. My point is, its hard to judge without seeing a guy on the field for a full game or games. Every QB makes mistakes, but could his explosive plays make up for his mistakes... no one truly knows because we haven't seen him enough.

Good points and I get that... I'm just basing my opinion on the plays I mentioned before. The safety, missing open guys on the two point plays and not calling the right rpo. He's a good kid and maybe he can change but I think it's more of I haven't seen anything from our staff that shows they can correct these things. Hopefully I'm wrong!

Willis has 25 rushing attempts over two seasons, good for 10.3 yards per attempt. He has 13 pass attempts (76.9 completion %) at a 4.9 yards per attempt. He’s handed off a number of times but if he’s in for a series the defense knows how to defend it.

I think the notion that any of us have seen enough of Malik to know convincingly one way or another how he’s going to do is foolish. Same goes for Cord and Gatewood. Anyone that suggests they know how they’ll do are blowhards. Malik isn’t being inserted into an offense that practices the read option in any meaningful capacity.

That being said, a lot of dual threat QB’s have offers at other positions. The driver of that is their athleticism. Regardless, I think all of those guys are more likely one year starters if Nix is as advertised. I’d still rather not upend the offense back into a run option for a stopgap year.

^ This is what I was getting at, but Jones came through with the stats. Plus who knows who or if we bring in someone at OC.. maybe one guy fits better or something. A lot of unknowns right now. Only a few more hours until we find out 1 of them though.

Kelly Bryant to Mizzou per his twitter. Curious if we go after Tate now or just roll with what we have.

Pretty sure we don’t even know if Tate plans to transfer or even if he is eligible to transfer. If he’s eligible and interested in transferring, you have to think Auburn will be in contact with him

There's nothing official, but there's been rumors for a while that Tate wanted out. Him and Sumlin don't really gel apparently. No idea if he's eligible though.

One of our beat writers said last week that we would pursue Tate if we missed on Bryant

I’m not holding my breath on Tate. He probably wants to play in Cali or Oklahoma. Is there a backup plan?
