I think the dude would be a hell of an H-back or TE. He has the frame and hands to do it. For a kid his size, he's too tentative running the ball IMO.

I want to love him but his running style and recruitment make it hard. There's no denying dude is eaten up with talent, just not sure it's at RB. If he learns to run behind his pads and shows more physicality he can be a stud. But I haven't really seen that yet (admittedly this is based off only his junior tape). Hoping he comes in with good attitude and puts the work in

I think, if he signs with Auburn, we'll learn a LOT more about him during his first summer with Ryan Russell. If he can embrace the grind, so to speak, he'll be a good player. Needs to learn to take having his @ss chewed out, as well, and respond favorably.

Agreed. He could be the answer for having a threat over the middle but he has to buy into that idea. His skillset is awesome, just not really suited for RB. Hoping AU gets creative with him and uses him in a Fannin/Lutz hybrid role where he gets some carries but also is used to attack LBs in the passing game. He could be a nightmare matchup for defenses in the slot

KN just posted that yes AU does see Clemson as a threat for Matthew Hill but confidence has really grown over the last week that he's gonna stick with AU. KN speculates it might have to do with Hill playing with Gatewood this week but nothing firm. Just notes that AU feels really good about keeping Hill

I know Gatewood & Schwartz have been developing a good chemistry this week, hopefully same is happening with Hill. Gotta help that Gatewood has been the best QB this week in Orlando

People keep saying this but if the knock on this kid is that he's too finesse to be an SEC RB then how is he tough enough to be an H-back or TE in this system? We require both of those positions to block ALOT.

I don't know if it can be found on the web, but for those of us that were in the early 90's I remember Pat Dye telling a story about Tony Richardson. Said when he got to AU he was as soft as they come, but he took a couple of walk on linebackers and Tony to the side and turned him into a beast. It's called coaching..

Tony Richardson was definitely the best dressed player on the team and a beast on the field. Now which one of our coaches is the Pat Dye type to motivate a player on offense to change his nature?

KN has 2 updates up today. One on Kelvin Joseph, other on Harold Joiner

On Joseph says Larry Porter big reason AU got in this race. Joseph is getting to know Greg Brown & the 2 talk a lot apparently. However, this is a big hill to climb. Joseph is really close with LSU's DB coach & Bama has been hard after him for awhile. He will OV the last weekend & AU is gonna fight hard to steal him away

As for Joiner, KN says hearing conflicting info on whether or not he's a take. AU might want him to take OV before making decision. With spots so tight AU wants to be sure before taking someone

I am guessing Joiner won't commit Saturday & if he leaves OV uncommitted in 2 weekends means AU is passing. We will see what happens

I like TE Alaimo. Just skimming through his senior tape a little bit. I don’t particularly know what makes a great TE prospect but he shows a lot on film.
- Some really great catches, including some one handers
- Gets open on busted plays, gets off blocks well
- Lines up out wide, in the backfield, and standing up on the OL or with his hands in the dirt.

hope we sign him. Not sure how much we’ll use him in the passing game but he seems like a weapon for sure

As a fake expert I agree with your analysis

I definitely think he will at least catch the ball when thrown to him. My main concern with him is getting open. Doesn't look that quick and his route running is pretty bad but tools are definitely there

I like the early signing period, takes a lot of power from the hat toting recruits and gives it back to the school. There are some you wait on, like Hill and Miller no doubt.

But someone like Jibunor, well he might have wanted to sign that letter, if Quay flips, he is left out in the cold.

And Joiner, he dinked around too long and lost his slot at LSU and we might get by default. I do agree with someone else in the thread, keep hearing he runs tenative, not sure how that translates into blocks from an Hback position.

Some of these tackles out there may fall our way as well due to the limited choices after early signing.

looks like a traditional, in-line TE. Will be interesting to see how we'd use him.

Personally, I'd like for us to move McClain to TE and use him in a similar fashion that Ole Miss did with Evan Engram. Very similar frames, great hands, and can burn.

Easy fix - lets tell Joiner we RaeaaLLY want him at RB, then when next season rolls around and he has signed his LOI, put him at TE. See how easy that is? Then we wont need to waste a scholarship on an underwhelming TE prospect like Alaimo.

I'd love for us to do something like this.

Dear god A&M is gonna pay Aranda north of $3 million to get him away from LSU. Aggies are wrecking the market right now. Not sure Aranda leaving would help us with Kelvin Joseph unless he was able to convince Corey Raymond to leave his alma mater. Just crazy

I for one would like to see the LSU program crash & burn

What A&M is doing right now is flat ridiculous.... I mean, it might work... but you’re much better off creating sustained success if you’re hiring the next Dave Arranda instead of breaking the bank for an established guy.

There were lots of rumors about Canada leaving LSU last week too. Oregeron gonna Oregeron I guess. I think they did Joiner wrong too. If you want to move on fine, but don't just ignore him. Pick up the phone like some grown men and tell him.

I actually didn't like the new signing period. I thought I would, but it seemed far too often that schools were pressuring players to commit or lose their spot. Overall, I'm still in favor of it but I think it need tweaking... Maybe limit the number who can sign early similar to EE's? Just a thought.

Any updates on Nate Watson or Olaijah Griffin? Would it be better to get Alaimo or Watson for TE?

That's the part I liked best about it. I care about what's in Auburn's best interest, not the student athletes....and this lets Auburn know where they stand with these kids well in advance of the Feb signing day.
