Justin Fields has decommitted from Penn State.
Remember, he grew up an Auburn fan and Cam Newton is his 7v7 coach.
Supposedly between Auburn, Florida, Georgia and FSU.

If Gustav can't close on a kid that idolized Cam and grew up an AU fan vs. a butter toothed shark humper whose QBs have made Clint Moseley look like an All American we need to send him packing back to some podunk Arkansas high school

Actually no it was a hole in the wall place in Semmes called Seafood King. I don't know how creditable he is, but he sounded like he was telling the truth.

So some other interesting news last night. KN finally switched his CB pick from AU to Bama for 4* DT Coynis Miler, something that I thought he should have done awhile ago. However, he said after he did that is phone started blowing up. He then spoke with 3 different people and after those conversations decided to switch his pick back. Says he can't go into detail unforutunately but it did mention Miller really feels at home at AU. Apologized for the flip floppiness but says he once again thinks, as of right now, Miller ends up at AU.
I gotta be honest, I really don't know what to think. I have thought Miller to Bama really ever since they made him a priority. KN can be optimistic at times but he tends to do a decent job of trying to be honest and no way he wants to flip CB picks around a bunch. So whatever he heard must have been really good news for AU.

As for Fields. Here's the status updates from his top 4 teams (AU/FSU/UF/UGA)
AU
Keith Niebuhr CB Pick - AU
Benjamin Wolk CB Pick - AU
Cautiously optimistic seems best way to describe how AU insiders are feeling. KN admits he is taking a bit of a risk with this pick. The fact that he grew up an AU fan, loves Chip Lindsey and of course is BFFs with Cam Newton all are huge positives for AU. Also Fields thinks he can get on the field early at AU. KN says he has heard from multiple people AU is in a good spot. However, says UF is definitely gonna be tough to beat but also that people shouldn't sleep on UGA. His sister is going to UGA and his mom wants him to stay close to home. Calls his pick mostly a hunch for right now. Wolk does not have anything up yet

Chris Nee CB Pick - none made
Josh Newberg CB Pick - UF
Not a ton of info from these guys but they seem to think UF is sitting in best spot right now but that race is wide open. Jimbo's history of QB development is the big selling point and they have gotten a visit before from Fields. Will be interesting to see what Nee picks when he finally submits one

Luke Stamipini CB Pick - none made
Stampini kind of just wrote a "setting the stage" type of article so hard to tell exactly what he thinks. He did recently have Fields in his commitment predictions for the Gators but says his confidence is low.

Rusty Mansell CB Pick - none made
Kipp Adams - none made
Mansell says AU is the team to watch here. Not that long ago he thought UF was team to beat for Fields but not sure anymore. Says AU is selling the "be the next Cam Newton" pitch hard and then having Cam Newton be his 7v7 coach and mentor really helps AU. Says UGA is also very much in the mix. The Dawgs are pitching him on being something different than what they have already in Eason & Fromm. Also the thought is Eason will go pro after junior year opening up early playing time for Fields (if he beats Fromm).

Steve Wiltfong CB Pick - UF
Wiltfong has heard that UF won't take a QB until they hear about Fields. They have apparently turned down a few 4* guys to wait for Fields. He does not think that Fields to UF is a lock though and mentioned the Cam Newton 7v7 angle is hard to ignore
A final note is Bud Elliot the head recruiting guy at SB Nation & former FSU insider said he thinks there is a clear #1 team but needs to dig in more before saying anything. Someone asked him on Twitter if that team was UF, he said no. Also Bama 247 insider Hank South CB'd Fields to AU. As we all know Bama guys seem to no more about AU recruiting than AU guys
So there ya go folks. Get ready for a wild next few months in this Fields recruitment. Once again the man, myth, legend Cam Newton will be at the center of a hotly contested recruitment. The melts that will occur if he picks AU in large part because of Cam will be amazing. As of now, I think if I had to pick someone I would go AU but I can also be a bit posibarner

An UGA mod I did not include in my recap post CB'd Fields to the Dawgs this morning. His belief is the fact Fields family wants him close by wins out and UGA is the closest. However it should be noted that while Athens is an hour to maybe hour and half away, AU is only 2 hours away. I actually think his post gives me more confidence for AU. The Tigers can sell being close along with chance to play early. UGA has two 5*s already on campus and UF is more than 5 hour drive.

I like the situation as it stands myself. Not overconfident, but his relationship with Cam, and our offense being geared toward showcasing his skills, tips the scales IMO.
UGA, has no film, nor history of using QBs with his skill set.

3* DT Allen Love just committed to Ole Miss. Never got an AU or Bama offer. Rebels got 3* DT Kadarian Hill, another AL kid earlier this week

Love is a weird case. Writers for both AU & Bama seemed to think both teams would offer during evaluation period or after camp. Neither did. Will be interesting to see if if in a few years both teams messed up.
I don't mind us letting Hill go to Ole Miss. Not sure how talented he is
I have said before though I think we should go hard after 4* DT Alfred Thomas who says AU is a dream offer. Yes he's short at 6'1" on a good day but very quick a guy that could line up at a lot of different spots
