Is it weird that I really love the idea of getting a linebacker that can get into Stanford? Seems like a good thing to me that a guy smart enough to get into Stanford could be a leader on the defense.

Not weird, Im the same way. I always love to see a guy with football AND academic school offers.

Any of you guru types know anything about 2018 WR Sean Elmore? I think he's at Mtn Brook now but was at Hewitt-Trussville.

I work with his dad and he was showing me pics this morning of their visit to Auburn this weekend. Pics with Gus, Kodi, in the locker room with jerseys, the whole 9 yards.

Doesn't have much now besides freshmen hudl highlights (which are great), but the kid is a hell of an athlete with good size.

I'm wondering how hard we're recruiting him for football because I figured he'd be more of a basketball recruit, but I haven't seen pics with Bruce Pearl yet, just Gus.

Update from KN on Brahms
quote:

The chatter we’re hearing is there’s a very good chance 4-star offensive guard/center Nick Brahms of Navarre (Fla.), who visited Auburn last Friday, will announce at The Opening. At this time, the tealeaves seem to strongly favor Auburn, where his sister will attend school in the fall. In fact, according to Brahm’s mom, Brahm's sister will room with the daughter of Herb Hand — the Tigers’ offensive line coach.

Sounds like we might get 2 commits at The Opening with McKitty & Brahms

Funny. Both of the Mnt Brook WRs, Elmore and Quinney, are my son's age and played at Vestavia before transferring. Both kids are freakishly athletic. Both kids will be playing either D1 football or basketball somewhere. My wife is friends with both of their moms on FB. Both posted all kinds of pics from this weekend and had glowing Auburn reports.

They will be fun to watch at Mnt Brook next year if they have a functional QB.

Aggie mods gave Mond update. They think travel is going to play a big role. Apparently they were up 30 hours straight when leaving to return home. Also lots of local pressure trying to keep them in state. Lots of Texas chest thumping. However apparently last year's WR class has had a major impact on Mond along with him having a stronger relationship with our staff.

They say it's 50/50 but think that in the end location wins out and he ends up at A&M. KN will have his own thoughts later today. From his tone I think he agrees 50/50 but thinks AU wins out

Edit: They did make interesting comment that Aggie staff was working to "ease some concerns" this week. Sounds like they have to do more selling than AU right now so we will see

yeah there was nothing wrong with KF's tape. He simply didn't have it between the ears and was a victim of Chizik's attempt to convert a hurry up, no huddle offense into a pro-style Loeffense.

Frazier also had serious accuracy problems. As in, he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn

Elmore and Quinney are actually cousins. From what I'm told the trip was really for Elmore and they didn't pay Quinney much mind. Elmore is all Auburn if we end up offering. Quinney has visited Bama as well but is more likely to end up somewhere like MS State

Also, regarding the Mond/ Frazier comparison, keep in mind that Frazier was competing in the smallest classification in Arkansas at a private school against a bunch of 5'7" 140 pound slow white kids. The one time Shiloh played a real school from Texas they got blown out about 63-0 and Frazier looked like shite. Mond is at an all-star school competing against the very best.

With the #'s in B'Ball, and the kids Bruce/Rifleman are bringing in, not many 2 sport kids will be playing at the Arena.

Tell them to stick with football, because we need in-state kids to be our depth. The level of pride is just different, and they take ownership.

You are referring to Trinity (TX), and Kiehl Frazier actually played pretty well given the circumstances. They lost 80-26 in the end.

I saw KF play a few times, on the tube, when he was in HS. I told a AE MOD that I was concerned with his passing ability. He was very inaccurate. There were times that the ball was almost going end over end when it came out of his hands. He was a great athlete, not much of a QB though.
