Yeah but they had a DC. We don't even know what the frick we will be running next year schemes wise so why would he choose us now?

He's had a bunch of quotes saying he doesn't really care about who our DC is. He picked Auburn for Auburn. He freaking loves Malzahn too.

I'm kinda nervous after that last quote I posted though.

KN says all signs still point to AU. Auburn is pretty confident. Some inside the program are not completely confident though

Now that I think of it it could be a momentum thing. Marlon reaffirms and then the next day Jackson hopefully commits to us.

The coaches, if they know we are getting Jackson, may be getting MD to reaffirm his commitment and then have Jackson commit to create some momentum in recruiting. Especially if we aren't naming a DC til January.

No he's doing it on Twitter. I'll go look for a time.
Haven't read the latest article yet but before then he did plan to sign FAA papers today. That binds AU to him but not him to AU. In his mind it appears he will be done when he signs them.

If he sticks to what he said that his recruitment is over after signing FAA papers then yes FAP I guess.

Once you sign your FA agreement, it would be a massive risk for any team to go after you and get you to sign another set. Any contact under a FA agreement for a kid who doesn't go to your school = recruiting violation

Unless you are 100% certain they will flip, I'd never want to be the second team to get a FA agreement

Junior college quarterback John Franklin III has signed a National Letter of Intent with Auburn.

Yeah, the FAA signings are more or less an early signing period now, with the power being in the hands of the players. The kid can sign them with as many schools as they want, which gives them leverage, since those schools must have a spot available for them if they end up choosing that school.

Very few schools would let that happen. NCAA made it clear that you run a huge risk of accepting a FA for a kid who won't go to your school

Right, but the point being is that it gives the player leverage. The school can't Philon anyone if they sign that.

Latest on Paul James per KN...

quote:

Has not sent in LOI yet.

Told us, "I am waiting to meet with Coach G to discuss everything."

Any issues? "Nope."

So, look for Auburn to get that LOI from the No. 1 junior college weak side DE today.

We are not talking about him signing FAA papers w/ another team. Bama & UGA can still recruit him & can contact him still on the phone & social media through the dead period. He could flip in that scenario & those teams would not be in violation. Now if AU says anything publicly about Marlon & he were to flip then AU would be in violation.

Most EEs seem to sign FAA papers as their signing ceremony since they don't get an NLI ceremony.

The risk is basically commenting publicly which is easy enough not to do...unless you are LSU. lol

Once you sign a FA, you get unrestricted communications with a recruit and can give them some permitted items. In the dead period for example, you will be hammered if the ends up not at your school
