People like Johnathon Wallace would be a favorite for many coaches though.

I do think that Gus finds a comfort zone with certain players and he will ride those players. We used to call it "riding the hot hand" but Gus has proven to me that if he doesn't trust "the hot hand," the hot hand won't be in the game during the crucial moments. Because Jovon is clearly the hot hand but Peyton Barber is still eating up second half carries.

JR is better runner than PB I would agree. Roc should be the starter at slot ahead of KJ. Roc has the best big play % per touch of any player on the team and it is not close. Don't come in with the fumble problem because his per touch is not bad there. I like to see JR and Roc start with PB resting JR and KJ resting Roc. All four would get touches but the most would go to JR and Roc.

wut?

He chose Todd over Burns in 2009. He tried to find ways to let Kodi stay in gameplan at times as a wildcat but Burns played at WR because he was one of our best blockers. Gus has never started Wallace & only plays him at WR because just like Burns he blocks extremely well. As for JJ, everyone on this board thought he was the best QB on the team possibly in the SEC. Heck national guys were saying it. JJ melted down mentally & after 3 games to let JJ prove himself he went to White till White went down hurt.

How the heck is any of that showing favorites? I love how when we get frustrated with teams we just start making shite up & running with it as fact. I haven't seen Gus play favorites. I have seen him find a few guys each season that produce & him feed the ball all season which outside of this season has resulted in an explosive & productive offense. From all reports Jovon did not come in ready to play but after understanding the level of effort he needs to put forth to earn the carries he has

I thought Lashlee's explanation was pretty good when he said Robinson does not block well in pass situations.

Lashlee says Jovon Robinson's four carries were due to a lack of first downs in the third quarter and the fact that the team was behind and throwing more in the fourth quarter.

Lashlee clarified some questions Malzahn did not directly answer previously in week, such as the reason why Jovon Robinson sat on the sidelines for most of the second half after averaging nearly 10 yards per carry in the first half. The answer was simple: Peyton Barber is a better pass protector and Auburn wanted to throw the ball more in a comeback attempt against the Bulldogs, Lashlee said

Well Jovon was on bench in the second half before Georgia even went up.

And I'm sorry, but when a RB has 76 yards on 8 carries, you can't take him out. It's not even like we were down by twenty against Georgia. We could have just stayed in our own offense.

How is that showing favorites?

Jonathan Wallace has gotten more pt this year than Tony Stevens.

Burns was used as a wr when we had Solid 4* guys on the bench.

Gus always tries to envolve his favorites

You think alour DC wanted to put KF in at safety?

Back to actual recruiting:

-There's a surprise visitor this weekend. Committed to a SEC West program and is apparently "big time". KN not allowed to say until he actually shows up Saturday.

Antwaun Jackson canceled visit to AU this weekend and is going to UF instead. Auburn still feels good and it's still supposed to be AU-OSU but you never know

Expected Official Visitor list:
5-star DT Rashan Gary, Paramus Catholic (N.J.)
-5-star WR Kyle Davis, Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer: AUBURN COMMIT
-4-star CB John Broussard, Phenix City (Ala.) Central: AUBURN COMMIT
-4-star DE Nick Coe, Asheboro (N.C.)
-4-star OG Landon Dickerson, Hudson (N.C.) South Caldwell
-4-star LB Zach McCloud, Lantana (Fla.) Santaluces
-4-star WR Ahmmon Richards, West Palm Beach (Fla.) Wellington
-4-star LB Rahshaun Smith, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
-4-star RB Kareem Walker, Wayne (N.J.) De Paul Catholic
-3-star ATH/QB John Franklin, East Mississippi Community College: AUBURN COMMIT
-3-star WR Donald Stewart, Paramus Catholic (N.J.)

McCloud has already shown up.

Michail Carter has shown up.

Jamarcus King expected to rejoin Auburns class.

Staff has no feel for Rashan Gary. Most expect Michigan.

Auburn feels they have no less than a 50-50 shot at Derrick Brown

Still feel good on Keir Thomas

Nick Coe still a take. AU-FSU battle

Not out of it with Jonathan Kongbo yet

Unsure about academic situation with Daquan Newkirk

Totally agree! To think Malzahn shows favorites to these guys shows to me you simply dont like how Gus is coaching period.
I dont like all the plays he calls, or some of their pregame plans, but I dont use poor excuses like saying he plays favorites to thsoe 3 guys..geez...

Stevens has got plenty of PT but he sucks at blocking. If he could block for shite he wouldn't come off the field ala Melvin Ray

Who exactly were these solid 4*? Kodi was one of the more solid WRs we had, he had solid hands, ran good enough routes & was a stud blocking on the outside. Curious who you think was SO insanely better than him

Frazier basically played STs & came in due to either injuries or ahead on the score. He wasn't starting at safety or out there play a ton of snaps. There is plenty of shite to complain about with gus but the idea that he just HAS to play certain guys is dumb. If you want to be a WR in his system you better block otherwise you aren't getting snaps & I don't see the issue with that

It sounds like you just don't like Gus taking athletes that fail at QB & finding a use for them

It sounds like for all the shite on Garner we are going to pull in a solid 8-9 man DL class. If he can flip Brown & hang on to Davidson that is an elite DL class
