It's fricking August....
Get out of 2005. August is not early in the process anymore. Many schools have 75-80% of their class already filled and the majority of the top prospects have already committed.

This time last year Byron Cowart seemed like a pipe dream & no one had heard of Jeremiah Dinson or really talked about Prince Tega.
Well we never would have had a shot at Cowart without Muschamp coming into the fold and we aren't going to get a boost like that this year. Dinson? Really? Tega wasn't even a 2015 recruit.
You can get mad at me if you want for dealing in reality but keeping your head in the sane is only going to set you up for disappointment later.
All is not lost yet, but something has to change. We are losing ground on pretty much every top prospect we still have a shot at and we are going to need to pull several of them to bring up what is right now a very average class. Hopefully we have a huge season that changes our momentum.

how so? That has to be the negabarner in you reading that.
He specifically names two Auburn players that he particularly loves to emulate and likes their style of play, and you see UT as the program?

What reality are you dealing in? There has been zero signings by any athlete anywhere for 2016, and you have mini melts over recruiting every two weeks or so.
Melt on Randy, melt on. I enjoy the amusement.

Commitment doesn't mean what it did in 2005 either. These days anyway it basically means this is my #1 team @ the moment. Would I like for more of these top guys to have AU? Sure but that is rarely the case for Auburn

Exactly my point. This time last year it would have been laughable to consider Muschamp would be our DC. Tega wasn't even being considered. Dinson was some no name 3* committed to UK & now a guy that could be out #3 or #4 corner. That's my whole point. Things CFB change rapidly so to come on and bitch every 2 days (probably exaggeration

How am I not being sane? Nothing changes as rapidly as CFB recruiting so having an understanding that where things stand at the end of August is not where they will be come February is very grounded in sanity.

Besides maybe Jimbo @ FSU no one has closed in January like Gus has the past 2 seasons. I have confidence we will do the same. I disagree that we are losing ground on ALL our top prospects. We definitely have had some disappointments so far but when is that not the case? Feels like every single season this same tune is sung & then we end up with a solid top 10 class.
Don't have a problem with being disappointed with where we are, just get tired of the constant melting over something that hasn't even come close to being decided especially when our staff has a solid track record. Not asking for a sunshiney thread all day but the every 2-3 days posting how everything sucks & we are screwed gets old

Well the constant flow of information every 2 or 3 days about some recruit that AU led for committing somewhere else or starting to lean other directions is getting old.
But what really gets old are the lame excuses everyone on here makes when it happens.

I will agree I hate how AU beat writers have to come up with an excuse for losing out on a guy. Sometimes we just get beat

Randy has a point, EVERY recruit we miss feels like "We are more interested in others" or "Wasn't a take at the moment" etc
I believe there are a lot o cases were what is reported is true. There just is no way it happens on every guy and cheapens it when we truly just got beat

While I agree, you have been here long enough to know that is just how it works. I remember asking why Ellis Johnson is considered a great DC. The only factual information people around here provided is one okay season he had in 2010. I was scorn for saying he sucks early on. I think your problem is similar to mine. I need real data to believe something, not feelz like most people on here.

Then quit following recruiting and/or follow a different team. You can bitch every once in a while but frick dude you are bitching at least every two days. Your posts are a frickin eyesore and clogs up the board. Also, please change your username to VagSav

My argument is we have the data. Past 2 seasons Gus has produced top 10 classes with the biggest moves happening late in the process. Also past 5 years AU has landed top 10 classes in all but one. That year we landed the 11th class (all 247 rankings). So why constantly bitch about recruiting when it is pretty clear we end up with solid classes each season.
Anyway done clogging thread with this junk. Just tired of reading the sky is falling repeatedly in this thread when we are heading into a very promising season

The bottom line.....Kids want to play at a place where they can win a Championship. If we can put a product on the field that has a chance to do that, Auburn will recruit itself.

The only thing with THAT is recruiting has nothing to do with facts until NSD. The rankings, and who is going where is 100% opinion until then.
Thus all the suggestions that certain people stop following, and certainly stop posting about, recruiting until then.

Well if we can only post about things when they are 100% fact then this board, or website, wouldn't exist.
It's not the people that follow recruiting that are the problem. It's the people that don't follow recruiting and have no idea what they are talking about and say things like "it's only August".

You only seem to talk about the negative. There are times when we are trending up for a recruit too, but you don't seem to shout from the rooftops when we are doing something positive in recruiting. You like yelling when it's negative.
It's ok. It seems a lot easier to be negative than positive. You are proven to be correct more often than not when being negative. Especially in sports, and even more so in recruiting.

There is a very easy way to avoid this...
