It is funny to hear how bad we're doing, considering how far we are from signing day and some top targets haven't even emerged yet. We will finish strong and sign some of the more highly ranked...
2 and 3 stars we can find.

To be fair, I used Denson, Coats, and Cooper as recent examples of low rated WRs getting signed and blowing up. The stars on WRs dont matter much to me.

It's just discussion of Auburn recruiting. Nothing different from every other year.

This thread's baseline is shite

Darius Slayton is a guy from last year's class who was ranked low then absolutely blew up into on of the top WR prospects in the country... last spring, no one knew who he was.
McClain isn't as polished as Slayton, but he appears to have similar freak athleticism... Technique can be taught.

I like his film. I don't know that he's a high end guy but it's a different direction from the coaches. He turns and centers the ball up really well. He catches the ball away from his body. Looks shifty after the catch. Physically he's big, not lanky.
All highlight reels look good. Even when a guy is a 2* recruit he's still going to be the best player on the field usually. So in that sense, it's tough to peg him.

For a coach, there isn't a better evaluation than with your own eyes and if they see something in him, then so be it.

The Sean white height saga was significantly worse

Not reading all the bitching back and forth but I don't see any reason to freak out over taking lower rated guys at this point.
If this were later in the cycle then yeah I'd be worried. At this point in the cycle, you have to chalk it up to our coaches liking the guy better than the recruiting sites. It's too early to be taking guys just to fill the class.

Who is Marquis McClain?
Remember the name. You will be buying his jersey in a few years.

And all I said was that I was surprised YOU said it.
I didn't say a word about your passive/aggressive shite toward E, and I assume myself, for trying to bring actual AU Football info to the board. Yet you will come here every damn day to see what is going on?
Seriously, GFY, and may every cast get hung in a tree full of Cottonmouths.

In all seriousness, our recent recruiting history completely squashes your negativity. Trolling or not, just gets lame after a while. Some of your posts are the worst on this board.

Wesley Sinor (AL.com writer)cb'd McClain to Moo State this afternoon
According to a UF Mod NCM told AU coaches he stayed in Tampa Friday night, but he was in fact in Gainsville and stayed the night. FSU AU UF battle
247 has ranked McClain as an 85 3*
McClain won MVP of "The Opening" (New Orleans Qualifier)
From that weekend - "Marquis McClain of Crestview (FL.) brought home the MVP award for the receivers and he definitely deserved it. As an unknown heading into the event, McClain came out a star almost shocking everyone that he came up against. He has a solid frame standing 6-foot-2. 195 pounds and runs crisp routes. He gets in and out of cuts pretty well, but is a little inconsistent with his hands. He dropped a couple 50/50 balls, but he showed great athleticism and really burst onto the scene with his showing this weekend."
Josh Newberg on FSU commit Jamal Couch
" I don’t expect Phenix City (AL) athlete Jamal Couch to end up in FSU’s 2016 class. FSU values his athleticism and versatility. A source told me over the weekend, “there aren’t many recruits his size that can do the things he can athletically”. Couch is 6-5 and 217. He’s viewed as a standup rush-end by FSU, or possibly a tight end. Auburn is where I expect him to end up. Auburn hasn’t offered yet, but I’m told they likely will at some point. FSU’s going to try to hold on to him in the meantime."
ETA: Carlin Fils-Aime visited UNC a few days ago and after his visit still listed AU #1 he's supposed to announce soon.

Good question.
How in the world have we not offered Jamal Couch yet?

It might anger fans since he is a three star?
