I don't see the big deal. He is a UT recruit. I am not sure why we even invited him.

Someone made a good point on SECrec board, lot of schools position themselves as #2 for a recruit just in case something weird happens in their recruitment.

Say Muschamp was offered a out of nowhere HC and TRob went with him tomorrow, a number of our commits would look elsewhere which lands them at the #2 school

Our fan base has a very real problem of writing off guys who will be entering their redshirt sophomore year as being noncontributors for the entirety of their time at Auburn.

I'm just saying

Usually that is for positions that have "wide open" competition and their name isn't even thrown into the pile.

That's the only reason I brought up Toney. I've never heard his name thrown out at all for any LB competition. Mitchell has played, and made some good plays, but hasn't played much and he's still struggling to put on the bulk needed for LB in the SEC. That's why I brought him up.

I'm always one to give a guy until his 3rd year to show he's going to be able to contribute before I start to write him off. Maybe I've jumped the gun on Toney, but I just get the sense that he's always going to be a backup on this team.

And with the shitty LB play we've had in the past few years, I'm all for a full on open competition with as many LB's as we can manage on the roster.

On the flip side, Garrett was talked about like Ray Lewis, but was very average when he got a chance to play.

Overall, our player development has been shite since tuberville left... that's why everyone rights off guys who have been here 2+ years and haven't done anything. It's also why we've been so reliant on JUCOs to be significant contributors for the last 5 or so years.

I hope Gus and staff can change this, bc we are poised to recruit at an elite level... starting in 2016.

Yeah I remember a lot of people hyping up Garrett "practice warrior". I wasn't buying it. I don't buy anything until I see them perform in an actual game.

If he's graduated, he can transfer... and the way the NCAA requires athletes to work towards a degree to remain eligible, there is zero reason he shouldn't graduate after four years.

If taking the average load and with tutors, there really isn't much of an excuse not to graduate in 3 years or a minimum 3.5

15 hrs /semester = 120 hours when you include summers by end of junior year

It took me 5 years. So I can't complain about it taking them 4.

Not really complaining just saying with the incredible amount of help they get plus paid tuition 3 semesters/year, if you odn't have your degree after 4 (6.5 years worth of standard semester hours) you start to scratch your head
