IMO, it sounds like he is just letting Gus use his in-home. Apopka doesn't allow their players to continue the recruiting process once they are committed, so he's just gonna wait to give Gus a fair shot since he has such a good relationship with him.

Bama at all because he does not want to play the 0
If he comes to Auburn he will be playing the 1-tech. No way at 6'2 335lbs he is going to play the 3 tech at a h high level constantly. His role will be to take on two blockers.

Just saw a Picture of Burt's family at UA practice and his little brother has an Auburn shirt on.
I know it doesn't mean much just thought I'd share

If Chavis leaves for A&M, would that open anyone up for us?
Maybe Richt retires too!

I don't think we have any common defensive targets with LSU or A&M so probably no effect for us

Well crap! Just wishful thinking I guess.

I was really hoping that A&M would whiff on their DC choices. All TAM needs is a decent defense and they will be legitimate contenders, not 9-4 pretenders.

Is this Gus's problem to this point? I had heard that he really limits the time that the defense goes against his offense.

Chavis knows better than that. I don't see him agreeing to that at all.

This is just my opinion, but LSU made chavis more so than chavis making LSU... Outside of maybe one or two years, his defenses underperformed given their talent at Tennessee... and he' brings nothing to the table recruiting wise.
And to me honest, his defenses have really sucked at times the last two years...

Chavis has had one of the worst offenses in the country to work with. He just has to be above average at TAMU for them to play for titles. And he will have access to the same level of talent at TAMU.

Well, above average is right in Chavis's comfort zone.

TAMU is just happy they won't have at least one guaranteed loss in LSU. Chavis has their number every year

From JC Shurburtt on Colbert
quote:And Rivals on Colbert, who they ranked #6 for the day and #1 DB
3. Colbert could be a great one- Auburn safety/outside linebacker commit Jordan Colbert (Griffin, Ga.) is tall, has good range and excellent ball skills and displayed that on Tuesday- his first practice. The nation’s No. 13 safety prospect per 247Sports Composite rankings may not end up at outside linebacker as some project him given his range, speed and ball skills. New Tigers defensive coordinator Will Muschamp certainly will find a home for this talented athlete, who (at least from what I saw Tuesday) is underrated.
quote:
Thanks to a paperwork snafu, Colbert was forced to miss Monday's practice, but he made up for lost time in a hurry on Tuesday. Colbert was all over the field while working at safety and made an incredible play to make an interception while helping from over the top. The big-hitter didn't have much of a chance to lay the lumber because there wasn't much contact, but the Auburn commit impressed with his ability to move in the open field.

Won't play at 335lbs at AU. He'd be about 315 and would be ridiculously quick if he did get down to that weight. He absolutely possesses the quick twitch to play the 3tech and get up field.

Terry Godwin bond getting "stronger" with D. Craig. Momma Godwin likes Gus
AU, Bama, TAMU, all coming at him equally strong. 100% to UGA
Chidi will choose between Bama and AU. Likes the fact that Bama puts players in the league. Likes Cristobal too. As for AU, he likes that Grob just got drafted high.

If Craig makes this flip the meltdown on UGA boards will be hilarious to read

Need Reece to in 2nd or 3rd round. If we can point to back to back seasons under Grimes of 1-3 rounds OL draft picks that should help fight the "Bama puts guys in league" bit. We are gonna be stacked at OL for next few seasons tho
Also the more I watch Cowart the more I want him. Place him opposite Lawson and that is a disruptive pair. I am really hoping this isn't 2012 NSD all over again where we finish #2 for everyone on signing day. It seems already we have done that this season and with guys like Payne, Ivey, Burt, Cowart, Thompson, and Godwin it just feels like we are running #2 for all of them
