Per Penny, 2015 CB Jalen Thompson will visit AU this weekend. He does not have an AU offer yet as he is a bit shorter at 5-10/5-11 than the DBa our staff has signed. He was teammates w/ Tre at St. Paul's so if the staff wants him Coach Craig will get him. The class 5A Mobile region is one of the top 3 or 4 regions regardless of class in the state so there is no question on competition. He recently got offers from UF & USCe. He says it will likely come down to AU & UF w/ a decision expected before his senior year. FWIW I like his film. He has good instincts and is a good kick and punt returner as well.

Certain programs have a knack for evaluating talent at certain positions. Right now, UF is the best for corners. If UF wants a corner and we can get him, hooray for us!

I would love to get Javon R. Back. He tore it up in juco last year.

I hope he does not blame Auburn for his academic troubles.

I like troop that is well documented, but Javon will not be coming to Auburn, look for him at Arkie State.. Has even expressed an interest in Bama.

me too...but there is no shot.

Auburn has pretty much agreed to just leave that one alone. Totally fine with me if that is all that the NCAA decided to levy against AU. Lord knows that Trooper likely is the party to blame for that fiasco.

Trooper was clean on this one which is one of the reasons he is back in coaching. He still has a good relationship with Javon. One of the folks involved at his school had Auburn connections, drove him to his official visit, (think the teacher in Blind Side). That is the reason we can not pursue, not Trooper...

thanks for clarifying that....i had always just assumed that Trooper was the triggerman on this.

This^^^ Let any notion of AU getting J-Rob go guys. Not sure why a discussion on Turner randomly turned into Jovon. In terms of Auburn, just forget about him and pray he goes to a school we don't play. With that said, even though Jovon has openly talked about his interest for Bama I think UGA is a bigger threat in the long run. Bama is loaded at RB even if Yeldon leaves after 2014 and I think Gurshall leave after big seasons in 2014. W/out a proven SEC QB they will likely be bell cows for the UGA O.

quotes per UVA 247 from high 4* LB Ricky Deberry who has an AU offer. LINK
quote:

I’m visiting Ohio State this weekend coming up and Texas A&M over my spring break don't really have a specific date yet. On March 1st, I’m visiting UVa for its junior day.

I’m also planning to visit Auburn. It’s one of the schools that I’m making a priority to visit.

Ohio State has great tradition especially at the linebacker position. Coach Urban Meyer is a coach who has won everywhere he has been. My dream has been to win a National Championship and Ohio State is a team that always has a chance to win it especially with Coach Meyer there.

Texas A&M is a school that I would like to get to know a little bit more about. They have been very successful the past couple of years and a program that is on the rise. They're a school I'm definitely interested in.

UVa is close to home, which is great for my family. A lot of the top 2014 guys committed there and I have a great relationship with the coaches. I can't wait to see how they do this upcoming season

Auburn is another school I’m really interested in. I've heard nothing but great things about Auburn. I recently talked to Coach Malzahn and he really wants me to come up for a visit

The plan is to narrow my list in the late spring or early summer. The goal number for the first cut is to get it down to 15 schools.

I don’t have an exact timetable. It will be some time during my senior year. There’s a strong possibility that I announce at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
He has no leaders at this point. I thought it was interesting he specifically used the word priority on visiting AU. Sounds like he is very intrigued with us. Here's his film. LINK

Quotes from TAMU commit 5* DT Daylon Mack per AUC LINK
quote:

I was getting a little interest from them (AU), but I reached out to my coach and asked him to send them my film,” Mack said. “Getting the offer from Auburn is a game changer for me.

Auburn is the only school other than Texas A&M I can see myself going to,” Mack said. “I am going to visit them Feb. 22 and I am excited to see what they have to offer.

I saw a couple of Auburn games during the season – the Texas A&M game and the Georgia game – but they really caught my eye in the National Championship game,” Mack said. “They are only going to get better at Auburn, so that is something I am interested in being a part of.

I committed to Texas A&M back in October and they have definitely set the bar high for me,” Mack said. “I love it there, but I just want to see what Auburn has to offer and how much I like it there.

I am sure people are going to give me grief about visiting, but I have to do what is best for me,” Mack said. “I have not spoken to Kevin Sumlin about it yet but I think he will be fine with it because he said it would be okay for me to visit other places.
Man if we are eventually able to steal this kid from in state TAMU that would be one heck of a beast mode move.

sorta feels like one of those situations bama fans complain about a lot... where a kids shows interest in a school for hype purposes more than anything.

but regardless of how sincere he is about auburn being a 'gamechanger', getting mentioned with bigtime OOS 5 stars is nice.

That's some good stuff and some good film on Deberry. Do want.
Likewise for Mack. And if he got the ball rolling that got him his offer, I don't see why anybody should doubt his motives or his interest.

Does Rodney have him ... or who covers Texas?

Not sure if Garner has him or not but he, JB, and Coach Smith recruit different parts of Texas. That was as of early last year per AUC. I noticed though that Rhett just made about a week long sweep of Texas so things may have changed.
