Hey guys...I never post in this thread. How are we doing on the 18 year old boys this year? Which ones are going to flop to Saban this season? Yeah, I'm still mad.

Not sure if its been mentioned yet, but this staff was way behind in building relationships with the '14 class. 15 will probably be better.

Rivals went ahead and gave a list of likely dolphin flips. Almost 100% positive that the stars mean likelihood of flipping i.e 4* = 4*/5 = 80%

Nice write up on coaches. The bottom line is we need to start winning and recruiting becomes somewhat easier. None of them have coached a game at Auburn since being assembled by Gus. Proof is on the field results and once we get some positive results it will help.

Yep... Interior OL are probably the hardest position groups to project to the next level. That's part of why its hard to get too upset at Casher's decision.

If you have a legit talent on your HS team he's probably playing tackle.

Just what I hear pieced together from a bunch of different sources.

This is all my opinion from hearing things and my interpretation of it all

This while obvious, is such a huge thing. You can only sell momentum for so long. I've heard it is depressing when your slideshow at JR day is basically, "We are in the SEC and this one year we played well because we had Cam"

You absolutely need something to sell. Kids believe in upward trends and foundations of success.

Not everyone is going to connect with recruits like DCraig. There is a reason he is paid a lot and relative to other guys a great recruiter. DCraig and Trooper before him, sold that connection which is not a bad thing and is actually great. That connection in turn can convince the players of Auburn's future and direction even without proof. We haven't coached a game, the only coaches on staff to win an SEC CG as a non GA are Garner and Malzahn. Only Malzahn as won a NC. Hard to make that sell without coaching a game unless the recruits just flat out trust you

That is the big difference in my view is that the connection can build trust in what the coach says. Without that deep and top notch connection, the recruit with no proof won't trust a coach from Auburn anymore than UTk given the same track record.

So when you have guys like Horton, Fountain, Grimes, Smith and CO, who are not going to be ace recruiters/connect, you need to build program success and momentum to give them something to sell. If you don't have a connection that a DCraig or Frank Wilson from LSU make, you can't sell Auburn on trust, you need a evidence.

Once you have that evidence, the rest becomes easy

My HS had 5 OL sign D1 schollies during my 4 years, all 5 played OT. Only 1 played a game at OT while in college

We just have to go look at game tape of those OTs from the small states that get overlooked because they don't have access to big football camps. Pull the guys that the Kansas States, Iowas and Wisconsins of the world find out of nowhere

I remember seeing the picture from rivals where he has a belly. He is looking pretty darn good now. I can dig it

Grimes will be talking to AMarshall tomorrow. Kid doesn't know whether or not he's calling with an offer. Got to think he's got a pretty good feeling about it.

Got to imagine he is ours.

I am looking forward to him developing his fram over the next two years. He can easily put on 40-50 pounds of muscle in the next two years and losing a little bit of fat.

Also, whatever happened to recruiting athletic DTs that don't make the cut at DT and transforming them into OGs/Cs. I always feel like DTs are more athletic than OGs in high school.

If we were to sign Hoyett Grimes wants him on the OL. The kid moves really well. And he's got some thump to him.
