My kid is in middle school. I can't imagine one of his classmates getting a D1 scholarship offer at this point. It seems ridiculous.

it's pretty wild to think about... but everyone matures differently. I remember a guy I that played middle school football and was an absolute terror... he became a decent high school player, but nothing special... while other guys who weren't nearly as good in middle school went on to play SEC football.

I heard James Franklin say this on the radio last week (paraphrasing): As a coach, you have to ask yourself... if this kid doesn't mature at all from this point forward (no matter the grade) is he talented enough to play for me?... if the answer is yes, even for an 8th grader, then you gotta offer.

It doesn't really matter if they offer early. They can always pull the offer if he isn't any good in HS. They just do it in the hopes that it blows the kid away getting an offer that early and they turn out to be a star. It could make them the obvious early favorite but at the same time the kid could grow old of the school and just want a new team by the time they are ready to sign.

whether you'd like to admit it or not, LSU has a lot more to offer a QB (and prospects in general) than AU has right now... really, there is no comparing the two

LSU does have more to offer to QBs right now. Don't know why y'all are laughing at that.

Past couple years they've had Average QBs. We've had shite QBs. Advantage LSU. Plus the only piece they have been missing is the QB. When you have that it's easy to sell to a kid that he is the missing piece to a national championship. Y'all have gone full retard if you think we have more to offer a QB than LSU right now.

Malzahn can sell his system and early playing time. But he has to prove what he can do as a head coach before kids will really jump on board the Gus Bus.

I want White. A dual-threat qb is nice and all, but none of then are Cam. I feel like White could be the next Paul Smith for Gus, one of the few player (5 i think) who have passed for more than 5000 yards in a single season. Tulsa also has two 1000 rushers that season, iirc.

I just want someone who can win some games. I don't give a shite if he doesn't break the 1k passing or 50 yard rush mark.

Problem is I have no idea who gives Gus the best chance of winning

At positions other than QB and RB you are correct. At those positions his rep carries considerable weight.

Between Cam Cameron and Gus Malzahn, which one has the proven ability to put a QB in a position to win a Heisman Trophy again?

How about a BCS Championship?

I also prefer White. I don't trust video or stats on QBs anymore. White has superior fundamentals and still has plenty of potential

You also wanted Wallace. However, You or anyone else will not have to hype White to get me to buy in. I feel he can be a winner.

Players want coaches that can get them to the pros along with having a good team. Name me the last LSU QB that went pro, much less is a starter. Flynn doesn't really compare to Cam, it's not even close.

Coaches that were successful in the pros in a recruit's eyes satisfy the requirement of being able to get them to the pros.

Cam Cameron is a solid OC

Therefor your point is retarded and made worse considering only one of our past QBs has been drafted since the end of the Tubs era. It is like comparing special olympic athletes when comparing LSU v AU production at the QB position

LSU has sent Flynn and Russell to the pros, Russell got paid a lot and Flynn's had a decently long run already. Jarrett Lee made a roster (briefly) and Jordan Jefferson is in the CFL.

We've only had Cam since 2005. Again, doesn't look good for us.

Not saying you are wrong. My question is when was Cam Cameron considered successful in the pros? was he not fired from Baltimore mid-season, after which they made a run that win them the Superbowl?

His dad should definitely stay off the internet.

Oh I agree. He made a good point, but it was very condescending and apparently he has become very confrontational on the site. Two posters basically called him out. One was a MOD. I think he is chaffed about his son and we all know how brutally honest and sometimes stupid anonymous posters can be.
