Auburn thinks they own mobile now
Not saying we own it, but we are pretty much dominating that area in recruiting. It's no surprise since Dameyune Craig is now on staff. I mean, we do have the top 4 Mobile area recruits committed, per 247.

It's nice to own an area. I mean Bama owns plenty of them.....

Reading that Thornton has some grade issue. Anybody know what kind of risk this poses?

I don't personally know what his grades look like, but if he was eligible to play football this season then I would think that with 2 summers of classes and his entire senior year still left, he could get passing grades.

Just wanted to wish you guy a late, "Happy Mobile Recruiting Day"

Why would the coaches chase a recruit that's so high risk?

Bryan Matthews said that they (coaches) already had a plan in place for him. You can't turn down a player of his upside, IMO.

I have no doubt that if he busted his arse he could make it in. I posted in the SECrec thread what it takes to qualify and how even if you had a 1.33 and without taking summer classes you could qualify if you busted your arse senior year.
I am more worried about IF Thornton will push himself to get qualified. I hope he does but some of this 17 year old kids just don't understand how big a deal it is

I've seen several players with just as serious grade concerns make it in.

so about the Crowell thingy. Let me add my inside info. He came to ASU cause his uncle lives in Montgomery. His uncle also has Auburn connections and I heard about this possibility over a year ago. Still don't think it will happen but it would not surprise me if it did end up happening on a very short leash.

I would have zero problem with Crowell on a short lease. I hope it works out.
Also, Jason Smith had under a 2.0 as of February/March so if he makes it in, it is proof that it can happen

Isaiah Crowell is rumored to be looking at Auburn as a transfer location for next year
