So, other than Justin Hoke's hint at the MacKensie Alexander maybe coming to Auburn, has anyone heard anything else? Last I checked, Florida was the team to beat with him, even though we had his brother enrolled and on the football team. If we could get him, it would instantly bolster the secondary. I just wonder how many years he would have to sit (1, I guess).

Someone answer these questions.

Didn't they want to be apart? I thought that was the reason Mackenro came here

Yes, but under the circumstances and when in a stressful situation it would make sense he wants to be closer to his Bro. Will it happen?

You sure? I thought it could only be two years if it was in conference?

"You can transfer to anywhere in the country...except within the continental United States."

Hope the inside visitor info stays secret as long as possible so ppl like WarBlogle and EagleDWar don't frick this up.

Yea, it definitely needs to stay hush-hush and off of the internet (where it can be seen).

That is what I thought too. He can make conditions for where he could transfer in conference, but they can't stop him from transferring to an SEC school with conditions. I am not 100 on that though.

Nor am I. I thought a coach could cherry-pick what schools he wouldn't grant a release to

Right. That QB for Miami a few years ago couldn't go to Tennessee, for what ever reason. It's a BS rule. Coaches can leave at will, but players can't? I understand the one year rule, but that should be the only penalty.

The rule is two years sitting out unless the school provides a "release". When that is the case it is a one year wait to play unless the NCAA allows for hardship i.e. Jay Prosch but those situations are rare. The coach can single out schools to which a release will not be granted. If that is the case the 2 year rule applies.

And if the recruit walks on, a la Corey Grant, he only has to sit out one season... Correct?

if he is released from his scholarship at the original school. However, if not, it's still 2 years, sux. COrey's situation was different because he was not offered a scholly to come home, just the chance to walk-on and EARN it.

It can be 1 or 2 years regardless of whether it is in conference or outside. It is up to the university to which schools they will release him to. Arnett Moultrie was released from UTEP and free to transfer anywhere except Auburn. He would have had to sit out 2 years here but only 1 year anywhere else so he wound up at State.

In most cases, a student-athlete who transfers from one NCAA institution to another is permitted to practice and receive athletics aid immediately at the second institution. As a general rule, the transfer student is required to serve an "academic year-in-residence" at the second institution prior to competing. However, several exceptions to the transfer rule exist that enable a student-athlete to be immediately eligible for competition at the second institution. The most commonly used exception is known as the "one-time transfer exception." As the name suggests, this exception allows a student-athlete to transfer from one NCAA institution to another on one occasion and be immediately eligible for competition. Certain conditions must be met to use this exception, including: (1) the student-athlete must have been in good academic standing and academically eligible for competition at the previous institution; (2) the previous institution must grant the student-athlete written permission to use of the exception; and (3) the student-athlete cannot have transferred previously from a four-year institution. [Note: In Division I, the one-time transfer exception is not available if the student-athlete wishes to participate in basketball, men's ice hockey or Division I/Football Bowl Subdivision football at the second institution].

I think the release just allows other coaches to talk to you and aides in possibly canceling the 1 year, if you qualify

the release is for the second year not the first. The quote above does not apply to FBS football
