JHoke said that Hooks would not have been academically accepted into Auburn and needed to take an online course in January before he came. That is the reason he chose Ole Miss

Yep. Per RebelGrove.com...
quote:
The Daily Post reports that the drama was due to an academic situation. Hooks reportedly tried to sign with Auburn, but an English class prevented that.
"There was a class the institution didn't accept, so I couldn't get admitted to Auburn," said Hooks to the Daily Post "The SEC accepted it, but the institution didn't. Ole Miss and Mississippi State accepted it."
Damn our academic standards! Why hasn't Gus gotten them lowered yet?!?!
Oh, that was sarcasm, by the way.

We are now targeting Marcus Hardison JUCO No.1 DE after missing on Hooks. Jeremy Johnson, Carl Lawson, Dee Liner, Reuben Foster, Montravius Adams, and De'Runnya Wilson are all expected to visit on Jan. 11. We seem to be the team to beat for De'Runnya now.

Good to hear. Looks like we should have a better idea ofthe defensive staff at that point. Probably why we got them all to come that weekend.

Oh and we're officially out of the running with Trey Johnson. No surprise there.

I would have lowered our standards for the day if that means we got Hook. Screw the administrators

Former Clemson defensive backs coach and now Auburn assistant defensive coordinator Charlie Harbison recruited Alexander to Clemson. With Harbison's move to Auburn, Alexander may be interested in taking another look at Auburn.
quote:
I'm open to listening to Auburn if they come after me and want a visit. I don't know much about the program, but I'm interested in looking into their depth chart, their school and their program. Time will tell, but I think it's fair to say I'm interested."

"My biggest thing is I want to start and play early. I definitely don't want to play in position where there are seven DB's in front of me. I want to be in a situation where I can go in and compete," Alexander said.

He may get a chance at AUB.

Shouldn't the 4-2-5 be right down his alley?

If those are the pivotal factors for him to come to a school, looks like we are a lock

This sucks. If he is acceptable to the NCAA and SEC we should have found a way to get Hooks into school.
