According to the same ranking, ESPN FPI, Auburn has the fifth toughest schedule this year..
That was before the season, we are currently at 9 at 27 remaining SOS according to FPI. Yes, last year we were 1.

I find it hilarious Auburn and LSU have one game difference in record right now

The lost to number 4, 7, and 10, but beat us by 30

Hasn’t stop UGa from stacking up 10 win seasons against teams ranked in the 30’s and 40’s.
I’m thankful for once we had a somewhat manageable schedule this season. Granted that 4 game stretch was difficult and disappointing but you play out the schedule and see where you are at. Anyone that thinks last year is comparable to this season doesn’t understand rebuilding and trajectory.

I think Brother Hugh is focused on the right things.
Recruiting, recruiting, and recruiting.
And then more recruiting.

Who’s saying it’s not a disaster? The teams better overall even if the offense is only marginally improved. You can be two things at the same time… disappointed in the offense but also understand the programs trajectory is significantly better than it’s been in years.
Unless you’re randy… and nothing is ever good enough for you not to bitch about it.

Disaster if unprepared for this season while holding unrealistic expectations I guess.
We expected 7 or 8 wins and can easily
get it.

Dude, give it up with the revisionist history and excuse making. Nobody on this board would have ever in a million years thought our offense/passing game would be as bad as it has been.

Have you followed the thread?

I haven't really complained about anything all year. I knew we were going to suck and I know it's not really on Freeze. That said, I couldn't let some of the ridiculous comments in this thread go unchallenged. My apologies.

I know we have issues with drops, but which dumbass called for a play right into the blinding sun? Or was it Thorne himself who decided to make that throw, who knows. He came off and kept saying the sun was in his eyes, then at least curl up and take the damn sack and just punt…

Why not just overthrow the receiver out of bounds or behind and outside.
He made sure to put his hand up on the sideline after that pick.
I think he saw the play well enough but maybe, just maybe was blinded enough not to see the defender. Just own it though because it was a slow and inside throw. anyway.

What revisionist history? I showed you a post from May where I said 8-5 would be a "damn good" first season. I told you before the season we had no QB. I literally bet Chex Auburn would not hit 8 wins in the regular season. I am the most bullish one on Auburn football here but I knew we had major holes. And the season is playing out as expected

Thats because they're dumb. Has it been bad, sure. Unexpected? No.

You just can't help yourself, still acting like anyone who thought we could and should crack the top 100 in passing offense was being unreasonable or unrealistic
Posted on 11/5/23 at 7:17 pm to RandySavage
Who cares. Thorne isn't the guy.
Posted on 11/5/23 at 7:24 pm to jangalang
I agree with you that record wise we are where most reasonable people thought we would be. I just haven't seen anything from the offense at all to make me feel like we are making progress there and that includes recruiting as it stands today

Thorne said he never saw the defender. Whether that be the sun, the shadows, or whatever. He manned up and owned it.

2 of our 4 losses are to top 10 teams. A third loss to a top 20 team. We are better than we were last year. We were competitive against #1 and #10. Looked bad at A&M and LSU. Work to do but we are definitely better than last year.

Booking my hotel room for the Bham Bowl. Be the third time I’ve had to go.

Recruiting wise I believe he makes a lot more noise after the season. If he is top 15 then he is where he needs to be and the recruiting results should abide him some time.
Offensively-I understand he tried to get transfers from the portal in a short period of time and failed to make much of a splash, so I have to trust that he still knows how to coach once he gets better players because the product on the field is dreadful given our deficiencies on our roster.
Freeze is a lot like Bruce in that I am willing to give him some latitude because he has already shown he can build programs. Bruce had a bad first season, an even worst second season, a mediocre third season which featured Bryce Brown getting suspended and pouting a lot, and then we finally did something. So if we can win 8 in the first season consider the turnaround much quicker than expected.
