What was the explanation on how the Nelson taunting wasn’t ruled taunting?

I think it may have been that the refs didn’t know what the pose meant. He was obviously taunting but a good with it not being called since he wasn’t staring down a player when he hit the pose. Otherwise you open the can of worms on all celebrations.

Maybe. I find it hard to believe they wouldn’t know what it was though. Even if you didn’t, doing it right in the opponent’s face is my only real problem with it. They call them doing it in the vague vicinity of the other team or bench, doing it in our face should have been a no brainer call.

My nephew did the crane after scoring a TD in high school. Was looking at his own crowd, did the crane and got a flag for taunting.

Should've been taunting. But then again I am not like Auburn fans desperate to borrow Bama's talking points.

Yea, not trying to make a point of it. Was just something I couldn’t hear the broadcast on and was curious if they gave any explanation.

Sucks to lose but we played pretty poorly a lot of that game and still almost pulled it out. I hate these end of the season ruts we seem to get into, just become very hot and cold. Need to find that early season form again.

Not trying to cope too hard, but I like that everyone is slating us to get bumped early in the tournament. I want this team hungry af and angry with a chip on their shoulder. Tough to play like that as #1 with a locked up championship.

If we don’t start playing better, we probably will get bumped in the first round. We haven’t been the same since Kentucky game.

You’re referring to two games, one of which we lost on a last second shot in OT to a very good team. If we play like we did yesterday in every game of the tourney then we are going to the elite 8 or the final four.

I think there are 3-4 teams in the SEC that literally can win it all. We forget how good these teams are. Yesterday bama played their perfect game against us.

Three easily can. Not sold on UT being able to go the distance but AU, UF, and bama easily could.

Rewatched that last play a few times. Holy hell that defense was bad by Kelley. Awful job dealing with screen and then awful job cutting through Denver to get back to his man. Should have played the switch or gone behind. He did the absolute worst thing a player can do and basically picked his own man.

Yeah something was off. Denver looked like he either expected Sears to hand the ball off or Kelly to switch.

bama wanted that game a lot more than our guys did. They were scrapping the whole time and our guys weren't. It's like Auburn's goal was already achieved, so this game didn't really matter.

Kelly was trying too hard to keep up with his guy that he impacted Denver staying on Sears left hand. Maybe they should have passed off.

So how do we correct our rebounding issue?

Or just not run right between Sears and Denver when there was almost no room to split them anyways

Not only do you interrupt the sight line, you basically set a pic on Denver. Simply go around Denver or double team sears and make him dish it. If he dished and they jacked up a last second 3, so be it.

Go back to basics and stop watching the ball.

Man it's tough watching you go through this jang. Calling people pussies for being against intentional elbows to the back of the head but crying for taunting calls for a pose after a badass play.

Look we all wanted to win yesterday but big picture it matters little. It's going to be okay, our biggest games are still ahead of us

I am specifically against the ejection. I am happy to see you handle the loss so well.

As for the taunting. We would've been penalized for it.

And that is my point. Well-earned rep or not for CBM, the refs still have an obligation to call it evenly, and they play a part in the escalation when they turn a blind eye to the opposition’s crap. That pattern started in the infamous Yale game, when they didn’t bother to also review the act that he was reacting to.

I get that the refs are on to CBM… rightfully so…but they ought to be on to the opposition’s deliberate strategy to bait him and nip that sh!t in the bud too. Anything questionable that gets done TO him the other guy always gets the benefit of the doubt. And then nelson pulls about the most blatant and obvious taunt you’ll ever see and the refs swallow their whistle, after some of the weak sh!t they’ve called on CBM just to make a point? Bottom line, it’s not the refs’ jobs to make a point, it’s their job to call what they actually see, and call it fairly, consistently, and evenly. In my opinion they have failed in that regard.

Seeing teams getting away with mauling Broome game after game just adds to the overall frustration.

Reminds me a lot of the treatment Nick Fairley got on the gridiron in 2010. Maybe our guys should just embrace it and adopt the same us-against-the-world mentality that that team did.

Any favorable calls Bruce receives is from official incompetence and there is no such thing as homecooking as only the fans provide any sense of advantage against the other team. None of our guys are going to get the real kind of protection that Nelson received last night.
