Eh. Not really feeling that one. But Artie is gonna want the hot name so I could see him going that route unfortunately.

I mean, we kinda need a defense.

Why are we not beating down the Josh McDaniels thing? Is it just too obvious?

Him or Harbaugh would be my choices.

Riley doesn't favor defense now, what makes anyone think he's gonna put a premium on it in the NFL?

If Blank hires him, he needs to sell the team.

Alright! Good choice!

But it will prove very difficult to push the current Interim HC aside in favor of a Lincoln Riley-type.

VERY difficult.

Two factors at play here if I had to guess:

1. What he did to the Colts 3 years ago has not been forgotten and said a lot about him, and not in a good way.

2. He's got a silent agreement to be the HC in New England when Belichick retires.

Can't decide if I want a POS like CUM.

Or a POS like Riley. Or a POS like Kiffen or McDaniels.

Either way, I think they should hire a POS. Those guys seem to win.

I keep thinking that Joe Brady could be a real option but he really has had, what, 1 great season at LSU

The ultimate boom/bust option.

Plus in 2020, Carolina Panthers 3-3
12th yards per game
9th passing yards per game
16th rushing yards per game
23rd points per game

Bridgewater 70.9% completion, 8.1 yards per pass, 299.5 yards per game, 6-5 TD-INT
Mike Davis 272 rushing yards, 32 catches
McCaffery out in second game.

They traded away their best lineman in the offseason and they are where they are. I think Brady is having a pretty significant impact on that offense with their injuries and talent level.

I would have been LIVID to be a Cardinals fan after they hired Klingsbury. Looking very good. Perhaps Lincoln could be a similar story.

Possible trigger warning:

Jim Harbaugh. What’s the thoughts on him? He’s won everywhere and he did an amazing job at SF. I think he was just younger and rubbed the owners the wrong way.

Nothing has changed. He's still a massive douchebag. Don't want.

Yeah I know he’s an awkward dude, just wondering if he had grown up some. His record is impressive with how he turns around teams.

That's who I want them to hire. Guy was borderline great in SF. And he runs a WCO, which Matt excels at. And he can be an arse-hole when needed.

Between McDaniel's crash and burn at Denver then crap with Indy I wouldn't even talk to him

There are 2 schools of thought on McDaniels -

Bring him in if: You want to give the current offensive nucleus one more run at it, ala Drew Brees and Co. after their string of 7-9 seasons. The talent on the offensive side of the ball is alarmingly high - with the only below-par position being running back (and even it's not an eye sore). I'd take the XYZ/WR3 of Jones, Ridley, Hurst, Gauge over almost anyone in the league, sans maybe Tampa and KC. With Ridley and Hurst on rookie deals for the next 2 years, it would be worthwhile to have someone as adept at coaching, discipline and by lord, situational game management like McDaniels captaining the ship.

Do not bring him in if: You finish Top 3 in the draft and want to blow it up. Whether Lawrence or Fields, if you're ripping it down to the studs, then you're better off with a hotshot coach like Lincoln Riley, who will have the leeway like Kliff Kingsbury to develop a young group, go ahead.

As for what I prefer... after seeing the Falcons '07/'08 turnaround after Vick, I wouldn't part with Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. They're not just your franchise players, they're also in the top-10 at their position. Heck, if we just don't frick up in 3 games, we're 4-3. That Carolina game was a coaching disaster as well - we're a better roster than them top to bottom. In all honestly, it's pretty reasonable we should be 5-2 heading to 6-2 this Thursday, with a slouch Denver team coming next Sunday.

We need an attitude adjustment, accountability, creative playcalling, and game management.

I hate to keep pointing to the 'Aints, but their roster during those 3 7-9 swoons was not as good as ours, and they basically made the decision to reboot with a new coaching staff, and use their higher draft picks to re-tool.

With today's refs (see the Terrell/Stafford hit) touching the QB today is a sin. Matt Ryan has 3 prime years left in him after this year. I would absolutely hate to see him go to SF and win a ring with Shannahan. He wants to be here. Julio wants to be here. Take out the crap on defense, get a legitimate coaching staff in here, use your high draft picks to plug holes on defense and in the backfield, and fire it up for 3 more years.

Next year, we really could be without Brady and Brees. The Panthers, Saints, and Bucs are all winning at a clip that they likely won't be able to nab a game-changing franchise QB.

Unless we park ourselves at #1 for Trevor Lawrence... I think it's in our best interest to give it one more go with someone like McDaniels.
