fricker sure isn't on my Christmas card list at the moment.
Being a bama fan and Falcons fan my whole life, I loved that we have had Julio his whole career. However, as I get older and realize that these guys allegiance means shite to their organizations, my fandom of single players also means shite to me.
Julio's acting like a frickface, let's call a spade a spade. So I want him to get his money but also be friendly towards the organization. If that doesn't happen, frick him.

Ok sure, but what’s the alternative? We can’t let him sit for 3 years. He still gets paid and we get nadda. So the only options are:
(1) pay him whatever he wants
(2) pay him and hope he does something cap friendly - the same guy that’s friends with the migos and TO. Yea, option 2 is not happening.
(3) trade him. I still say we should’ve done it then at this point of 2018.
Maybe I don't understand football contracts.
If he doesn't play, he doesn't get paid anything other than guaranteed money (which is typically front loaded).
Is 100% of his current contract guaranteed money?

If he sits not only does he not get paid, he’ll prob get fined too. I think most of his guaranteed money was in the first 2 years so the falcons aren’t on the hook for much of his contract if he really wants to be a douche

Julio needs to go if he thinks he deserves a new contract. 3 fricking touchdowns. How can such a good receiver disappear in the red zone so much.

Falcons not planning to renegotiate Julio Jones' deal
quote:
Julio Jones sat out offseason workouts in hopes of getting a new contract. The Atlanta Falcons will not acquiesce.
The Falcons are not planning to renegotiate the All-Pro receiver's contract with three years left on the deal, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday, according to a source informed of the team's thinking.
Jeff Schultz of The Athletic first reported the news.
Jones enters the third year of a five-year $71.25 million contract extension signed in 2015, which lasts through the 2020 season. With Jones under contract for three more seasons -- and the team able to wield the franchise tag for two subsequent years -- the Falcons are prioritizing extensions for players entering the final year of their contracts: DT Grady Jarrett, OT Jake Matthews and safety Ricardo Allen, per Rapoport.
It always seemed a long shot for Jones to get a new contract with three years left on his current deal. NFL teams are generally reticent even to consider a new deal with two years left on a contract. Giving Jones a new contract -- even if he's deserving -- would set a new precedent. NFL teams despise setting precedents.
With the news that the team won't give Jones a pay raise, the question is whether the wideout will attend training camp when Falcons veterans report July 26. Rapoport notes that communication between Jones and the team has remained strong, but the Falcons still haven't been informed about whether he will attend camp.

Sounds like he was getting great advice from T.O.

The more this drags on the less of a fan of Julio I'm becoming. To me, this signals that Julio is stating this will be his last big payday so he's going big.
I really see an early retirement from Julio in 3 years.

Tough for me to take anything Schultz writes seriously. But I hope this is true.

Would Julio sit out the season or at least a few games if he doesn't get what he's after? I could see that making a huge rift.
I almost wish we had traded him now, as crazy as that sounds. Offload his contract onto someone else in the AFC and have gotten a 2018 1st and a 2019 1st and some extra.

Understatement, and it would obliterate his reputation as a team-first guy.

Would he care though if he's looking at this as his final big payday?

Hanging out with Terrell Owens was enough to destroy that reputation in my eyes. No one who actually cares about their team's success over everything else would be in the same zip code as that worthless piece of shite.

I'll go ahead and say it...this is fantastic news for the culture of this franchise.

I smell sarcasm?
Actually, I'd be kinda proud of ATL if they don't completely bend over to the will of 1 player, don't care how good.

Same here, he just got a new contract two damn years ago. Show up to camp Julio.

Absolutely not.
I was 100% serious. I don't think you'd see a franchise like the Patriots bend over backwards for one player like that. If that's what you ultimately want to be, then this is an example of a time where you stand firm. If the Falcons show that they won't do it with Julio, then they sure as hell won't do it with some middle-rate player.
I've been against giving him this extra money from the very beginning because of the implications it would have on the Falcons ability to build and sustain a playoff-caliber roster long term.

Sadly, our "style-over-substance" fanbase will riot if it comes to that.

It's absolutely asinine how many of these fans don't realize how much better Ryan is than Vick
