I was checking out the opponents for next year, and to me, it seems that the schedule might be a bit tougher. After the 6 division games, we get the NFC East, AFC North, and 3rd place finishers in the NFC West and NFC North (Arizon and Green Bay).

Road games are Carolina, Tampa, New Orleans, Green Bay, Cleveland, Philly, Pittsburgh, Washington. If we go 4-4 in that stretch, I'll be pleased.

Home games are Carolina, Tampa, New Orleans, Dallas, Arizona, Cincy, NYG, and Baltimore. Probably need to go 7-1 in this group given how tough the road schedule is.

Da'Ron Payne seems to be a favorite pick applied to the Falcons at the 26th slot. I understand that they have the need for OL, specifically at guard, but I don't think they'll use a 1st Rounder at G.

Regarding the rest of the roster, here's a pretty neat site that helps you simulate cap hits and stuff based on the various transactions that can take place:

I'd be happy with Da'Ron Payne in the 1st. I think Dontari Poe is gone and we got gashed with the run up the middle during long streaks this year.

Looking at the schedule:
quote:

Road games are Carolina, Tampa, New Orleans, Green Bay, Cleveland, Philly, Pittsburgh, Washington. If we go 4-4 in that stretch, I'll be pleased.

I see:
Carolina: L
Tampa: W
Saints: L
Green Bay: Gonna say W but this is a toss up
Cleveland: Better be a W
Philly: depends on time of year but let's just say L
Steelers: L
'Skins: W

So yea 4-4.

quote:

Home games are Carolina, Tampa, New Orleans, Dallas, Arizona, Cincy, NYG, and Baltimore. Probably need to go 7-1 in this group given how tough the road schedule is.

I'll say:
Carolina: W
Tampa: W
Saints: W
Dallas: L (toss up?)
Cards: W
Cincy: W
Giants: W
Ravens: W

Man, this home record is EASY. We could afford 2 losses assuming we win most of the 'winnable' games. I can see 10 or 11 wins with this record but it really depends which Falcons team shows up.

Wouldn't mind Payne at all with pick 26. But depending on who falls to that pick, what other DTs are value picks.

I think Trenton Thompson could fall to round 4. Russell could fall there.

I'd try to sign guards in FA. I don't trust the falcons to draft a solid guard.

I don't even worry about the draft anymore with this group. They're gonna get what best fits Quinn's scheme and thrive. I worry more about Coach Bro on gamedays.

If Payne is there at 26, it should be a sprint to the podium. Falcons are a big run stuffer and one more talented corner away from being a dominant defense

You're definitely right, but could you imagine our LBs if we got Roquan?

LDE:Beasley||Reed
UT:Jackson
NT:
RDE:McKinley||Shelby
SAM:Campbell
MLB:Jones
WILL:Roquan

Sign Star Lotulelei for the NT spot and boom! Upshaw would be a nice resign to back up the tackles.

Sure if they're drafting a LB,S or a DL but our glaring
weakness is OG and most of our chief NFC rivals (Rams,Eagles,Vikings,Panthers) all have dominant D-lines and or DT's.The sooner the weakness is addressed the better.Having said that,if Payne is there we
cannot pass him up.

Any chance we go after Josh Gordon?

Seems like it would be worth the risk if you can get him for cheap.

After Vick, I don't think the Falcons will mess around with many "character issue" guys.

Browns have a metric shitload of cap room. They'll keep him.

If we could manage the cap to add a guard via free agency, after resigning Matty Ice, I'd be thrilled. Then we can focus on the draft, potentially trade up a couple spots like we always do (Vita Vea, Roquan however unlikely), or even trade out of the first to stock up. Either way I'm excited for the draft.
