If Atlanta could get a good tightend that was somewhat of a threat to catch and a decent blocker, sort of a legitimate check down threat. Good fricking God.

I dont know why Falcon fans shite on Hooper.

2nd year player, yes he had a few issues with drops, but is a strong blocker, and put up this stat line in his first full year as the starter.

49 catches(15th in TE)
65 targets(16th)
526 yards(15th)
3 TD(20th)
5 20+ receptions

Thats not bad for a 4th or 5th option, and with the addition of Ridley, he might not have to do as much this year as he did last year.

With us drafting RB again, I think the writing is on the wall that we are letting Coleman walk. No way we pay two RBs.

Also, it is pretty obvious that Hurst was off our board. Late last night, Mayock said he talked to 10-15 teams and all but one said Hurst was off their board.

That’s terrible groupthink in my eyes. He was extremely productive for three years. 32 TFL and 13.5 sacks and just insanely productive. I hope he has a tremendous career.

Also, good for Shaquem Griffin.

I would have loved to get Hurst in the 4th, but I think this has been a fantastic draft regardless

Cos Hooper isn't reliable. A TE who is inconsistent as a pass catcher doesn't do you much good. I really wanted Hayden Hurst if ATL didn't like Taven Bryan, but Baltimore screwed that up. Still, Ridley could be a more talented Gabriel.

Interesting draft. I really wanted Shaquem Griffin- the Seahawks are getting a stud.

If he had two hands would people still be talking about him?

Pretty awesome story on our DT pick Senat. Lost both parents by age 20.

Deadrin Senat dedicates being drafted by Falcons to his late parents

quote:

That's his mother and father, who have both passed away. Senat lost his mother when he was just 13 years old and then his father when he was 20. "It's very tough," Senat said of not having his parents to share the moment with. "It's something I go through every day. It hurts, I see everybody else with their mom and dad. Family means everything to me." Senat plays with a high motor and never takes a play off - a mindset he developed from his dad. In four seasons at South Florida, he tallied 178 tackles (23.5 of them for a loss) and seven sacks. Senat's father passed away in the middle of the week during the college football season four years ago and Senat didn't allow himself to miss USF's upcoming game that weekend against Syracuse. In fact, Senat said it was one of his best games in his collegiate career. Quinn praised the positive attitude Senat approaches his life with, despite what he's lost.

quote:

"I think throughout his life he's shown a tremendous amount of resiliency," Quinn said. "If you hadn't known his story, you certainly wouldn't pick up on anything with his up-beat attitude that he has just walking around. So I think he'll fit our locker room terrifically."

I watched several UCF games this year when they were going on their run, and Griffin always stood out. He was quick, smart, and played with intensity. The intangibles he has cannot be taught, and I figured he could be what Duke Riley so far has not been.

The hand issue was secondary to how well he played.
