Got that from sporttrac, but believe it included minor leagues and inflated it.

Not directly Braves news, but Anthony Rendon to the Angels for 7/$245M. Glad to see him in the AL.

Braves are thought to have checked in on Hyun-Jin Ryu. Uncertain level of interest. Also on Ryu: dodgers, jays, twins

Ryu is a great pitcher and he relies more on pinpoint control than power stuff. I think he'll age well.

Just saw this. Good signing I think. He will do well there.

5/$85M for a 30 year old pitcher with a lot of miles on that arm. I'm glad the Braves didn't match it.

Figured Bum was out with how much has already been spent on arms. I just hope to god we get get Donaldson back. Or if we don’t that he isn’t with the nats.

yeah, I think Hamels took the spot that MB would have filled

I think we end up with Arenado(Waters/Riley/Wright/Touki), Twins surprise and grab Donaldson, and the Nats dont have the capitol to trade for a 3B(not trading Robles) and they sign Encarnacion and Scooter Gennett, and they split time with Howie Kendick and Carter Kieboom at 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

1.Acuna(LF)
2.Albies(2B)
3.Freeman(1B)
4.Arenado(3B)
5.Markakis/Duvall(RF)
6.Swanson(SS)
7.d'Arnaud/Flowers(C)
8.Inciarte(CF)

1.Eaton(RF)
2.Turner(SS)
3.Soto(LF)
4.Encarnacion(1B)
5.Gennett/Kendrick(2B)
6.Suzuki(C)
7.Robles(CF)
8.Kieboom(3B)

If we don't acquire another starting pitcher of high quality, then my expectations are going to be lower next year.

If Braves wanted to spend $35 mil per year on a third baseman, they could have just signed rendon for no prospects.

Yeah, and I'm not a huge WAR guy, but Josh Donaldson's was 6.1 last year. Arenado's was 5.7. He may make us better but not exponentially and at high cost.

Exactly. Arenado just signed a bloated extension last season with an opt-out after 2021. And he has the Coors Field-inflated numbers stigma, fair or not.

There is no way he costs major prospect capital unless the Rockies eat a significant chunk of that deal, and that would look pretty dumb on their part since they just signed it.

Part of any Arenado deal would likely mean getting Blackmon as well.
