Not sure how I feel. i am all about using young talent to get us winning "organically" over time. That allows you to reload over time as well. Winning right away would be awesome though.

We are getting to the point of shite or get off the pot with the prospects.

Im definitely not saying trade any of the positional players(Dansby, Ozzie, Acuna, Riley), but there are 5 rotation spots and too many pitchers that will be ready in the next two years.

Newcomb, Gohara, Folty, Fried, Sims, Allard, Soroka, Wright, Touki, Wentz, Anderson, Wilson, etc...

Thats 12 guys that will probably be in AA or higher, and thats not counting the lower level guys.

We got to start flipping the ones we dont want for a return investment before the shine wears off on them.

Agreed - give AA a spring to evaluate and decide what notes he agrees with or disagrees with and then it's time to start deciding who you see as expendable and who you see as untouchable.

Good points. I still have PTSD from some of the trades we have done over the last decade.

Youtube - Maddux hits Canseco

If you guys want a little blast to the past, I found this video of a game in 2000 between ATL and TB where Maddux hit Canseco in the arse and the benches cleared. Maddux had that shite-eating grin that he always sported and Canseco looked like he wanted to kick his arse.

I couldn't imagine Canseco fighting someone like Maddux. I can say this with a high degree of certainty...if Maddux hits you he certainly meant to do so.

There were 5 hit batsmen in the game including that one.

the article doesn't say if it's a major league or minor league deal. I'm guessing major league...

It's major league I think. Normally I wouldn't be thrilled about bringing on a 39 year old reliever but 1) It's Peter Moylan, who doesn't love that guy, and 2) He was actually lights out against righties last year and had the most appearances in the majors, so it appears he still has some left in the tank.

I'm a little surprised by this, although there is the possibility of him being added back to the 40-man within 10 days.

If he is put on waivers, I don't see him clearing. Young guy who throws 100 and put up decent numbers when he was called up in 2016. Yeah, he walked a lot of guys, but he didn't give up any bombs, had a good ERA, and strikes guys out.

I'm actually surprised that he didn't make it to the big club at all last year given the issues with the bullpen. I guess the folks much smarter than me have a completely different view of him.

2017

AA
13 Innings, 9.88 K/9, 11.85 BB/9, 5.27 ERA, 4.87 FIP

AAA
26 Innings, 6.84 K/9, 8.54 BB/9, 7.86 ERA, 5.62 FIP

So he couldnt strike anyone out last year and he was walking everyone. No one gives a shite if you throw 100 if you cant locate it.
