I'm starting to think we might be going the other way. See what we can get for guys like Morton and a few of the pen pieces.

This is a bad baseball team. Morton sucks. The Braves wouldn't get shite for him at the deadline

I agree. No one would want our one year deal guys and some of our prospects like Pache can’t hit. We should be sellers at the deadline, and Freddie is likely the only trade piece to garner any return, and even he is having a terrible year.

I just wanted to say we have the worst bullpen imaginable. Two straight scoreless starts and two straight Ls

This team is unwatchable sometimes. They are putrid.

That Newcomb trade is looking worse as the years go by. Dude is a wasted roster spot.

Soroka tore his Achilles again. Out for all of 2021, I would guess a large chunk of 2022, and I think there is a nonzero chance that we never see him pitch again.

Just saw this. We need to plan going forward as if he won’t play again, at least for now, and get someone else for next season. This season is toast.

He'll pitch again. He's 22.

But he needs to find a better surgeon. Like James Andrews?

Based on what I've read/heard, his body physically rejected the sutures from the original surgery. It happens but it is rare and I don't have enough medical knowledge to say if that's the surgeon's fault or if he just had really shitty luck.

Horrible news for the guy at this point. Hopefully the next surgery is successful

Today was the kind of comeback that can hopefully propel them going into the ASB. 3 with Pittsburgh and 3 more with Miami gives us a chance to finally get over .500.

Everytime I get pissy at the Braves, they rattle off 14 or so runs and get me excited. Then I think they'll finally get to .500 and get on a run and then they lose 3 in a row.
Rinse and repeat and that's been this whole shitstain of a season.

I know we're without Travis D'arnoud and Ozuna but I don't think those 2 players = 10 more wins, which is where I think we should be based on last season. Something is just wrong with this team. Not to mention, we've all been bitching about middle and relief pitching for what - 8 years now?

It’s time to move on from Snit.

A few observations:

1. A lot of guys played well above their heads in the short sample of last season. Freeman, Ozuna, TDA, and Dansby all had career years at the plate. Freeman is coming around, but Ozuna is gone forever, TDA was showing signs of regression before he got hurt, and Dansby has come crashing down in a huge way.

2. The bullpen has come apart at the seams. Matzek, in particular, has fallen off a cliff. His downward spiral coincides with the crackdown on sticky substances. Do with that what you will.

3. The Braves had an amazing snd unsustainable record in one run games over the last 3 years, which meant they won more games than their stats would have predicted. This is being reversed in a major way this season. Again, regression sucks.

The Braves are built as an 75-85 win team, and like you said in your post, have gotten really fortunate with the outcomes the past couple of years. Back to reality now. Hopefully AA does the right thing and sells at the deadline, but knowing him, he will say “”We just felt like this was the team that gave us the best chance to win” while doing nothing to improve the roster.

Grant McAuley tweet:

quote:

Nearly 20% (77 runs) of the #Braves 406 runs scored have come in 5 games this season. Atlanta is averaging just 4.0 runs per game in the other 81 contests. Compare that to a 4.26 team ERA and you get the makings of a club destined to sit around .500.

And here we are.

After one off season?

Nah. And I'm not a big Snit guy either, but he ain't the problem.

Now if we are talking about the pitching coach, that is a discussion worth having.

In perhaps the least shocking news of the year, the Marlins hit Acuna AGAIN tonight.

He isn’t the solution either. He won’t win a world series here and it’s obvious. Acuña is more important than him to the franchise
