Nice strawman.

You said teams can't run the same play every time down the court. I used the Jazz as a counter to your statement. You got your panties in a wad. That's pretty much it.

Give Mike a call and let him know the secret to success is the pick and roll.

I think we should also tell him to have Macon watch film of Larry Bird. Then he can rebound, play defense, and score 40 a game.

Simple as that, duh.

Sure thing, string bean. And you continue the melt. It's been fun to watch.

I'll give you this... you are skilled at the art of misinterpretation.

Why would I be melting? I'm a Mike Anderson fan. And a razorbacks basketball fan. And my team is on a two game win streak. I'm happy.

I don't like using gafford on the pick and roll.

I want him to stay around the rim.

My personal opinion.

I like it because it's about the only way to get his defender away from the rim.

How much basketball knowledge must one possess to see that Gafford doesnt get enough looks?

Is it more or less than the amount it takes to see our perimeter defense is trash, year in and year out, under Mike?

Damn, that escalated quickly.

I’ve seen them try to run some pick and rolls with Gafford and Thomas. It’s been somewhat successful at times but sometimes the guards hesitate a split second before trying to get the ball to the big man. That split second hesitation sometimes causes them to miss the window for a play. So then sometimes the guards devolve into hero ball.

I think some of it is chemistry issues, but I think the senior guards need to learn to trust their supporting cast a bit more and pass with some confidence.

Btw, given the success the three man weave had the other night, I think that and the pick and roll should be the staple of the half court offense. Just my backseat coaching opinion.

Bringing some sensibility to this thread.

I like how when we are getting open looks but missing shots it's because "we're playing with low energy." Then we start making those same open shots it's "why can't Mike get the team to play with this energy all the time???"

A lot of people on here can't see anything more than the scoreboard when it comes to basketball. The team is making huge strides right now and it was visible even when we were down big vs UGA.

Having the team watch him just for effort and free throw shooting alone would be worth it.

From watching the Georgia game it appeared to be sloppy play on the part of the bigs and the guards as well. The announcer even called it out repeatedly. The picks weren't crisp, they either peeled off too soon or moved with the defender getting themselves out of position to "roll". On the guards part, they either didn't use the pick, or they completely ignored the man rolling to the basket. When they did try to pass to them, it was either too late, or sloppy, or telegraphed. We just suck at running a decent pick and roll apparently. Our chemistry was better earlier in the year. As some have mentioned on the board already, it appears Barford and Macon began concentrating on their NBA resume and less on staying in the flow of the game. The others seemed to have picked up on this and just stopped trying on the offensive end. Gafford got the shite beat out of him in the Georgia game getting position and they barely tried to get him the ball at all. This team needs an attitude adjustment.

You really don't think the defensive effort has picked up significantly?

You're going to sit here and tell me the LSU game was down to "missing shots"?

I promise y'all that Mike Anderson knows how to run the pick and roll, and we go to it a lot. If they could run it more and get away with it, they would. These guys are playing high level division one basketball. This isn't the frickin youth leagues at your local YMCA.

The pick and roll/pop is the STANDARD basis for every NBA offense.

He is the only player I've ever seen that I think could give Jordan a run for the GOAT title. It wasn't just the he could score gobs of points and drill jumpers from half court, but he was one of the greatest defenders I've ever seen, one of the greatest distributors, and everything else. He did absolutely everything on the court and he did it better than anyone else.

He'd also spit in your damn face in the process. Total no nonsense type.

I'm not saying energy is never a problem. I just think it gets way overblown by fans. Every time we lose there will be people saying "why don't they play with more energy???"

There is such a thing as getting a tough matchup or just not executing well. Those things can look almost the same as what a team playing with low energy might look like. If you're playing a team that's denying passing lanes/preventing you from running your offense in a certain way, things start to stagnate. Just an example

This is always the issue from both sides. If we win our next 3 games, some will say we are going to make a F4 run. We lose our next 3 games, some are going to say we aren't making the NIT.
