Secondly, Trey is the coaching search guy around here, no doubt his recent track record speaks for itself and it's probably why so many of you signed up. But a couple have asked for my thoughts and this is where I'm at as of this morning: I think Matt Campbell is gonna have to turn down a lot of money -- probably upwards of 5, 5.5, 6 -- and if he does, I think Lane is the guy. That's not surprising to most who have kept up, but I really believe that's where it's at as of right now, and I think that's a very safe place for Arkansas to be in this search.

Ok, so how do we feel about Gundy? Has he run his course up in Stillwater? Does he still have the fire needed?
I haven't watched nor cared enough about OkLite to know...
I know you were using an example only, but what about him?
I care about OSU...the feeling is that others who are important, but weren’t as big at the table as TBoone...think Gundy has lost his edge and fire. Fans are starting to turn on him a bit. The feeling is that TBoone kept Gundy on his toes and always looking over his shoulder...not the case the last two seasons.
It’s the monster he built that’s doing it to him. He is looking at two lackluster seasons in a row(not 10 wins)and the natives are growing restless. Another loss to OU this weekend and they’ll ramp it back up.

Hearing it’s Campbell.
That Danny West post seems to make the most sense.
Down for him with Kiffin as second choice but his lack of ties to the SEC worry me. Great coach, just wonder about the overall fit and long term viability.
And most importantly, can he recruit TEXAS y’all???

No sauces, just gut.
I feel it's going to be Campbell, when all is said and done.

Then I will never question HY’s ability to sell UA to prospective coaches......ever.

I think the 5-6.5M/year that is being thrown around is helping that conversation....

I'd be happy with Campbell.
If we move to the Big 12.

This is what feels like the lost likely outcome to me.
I've been all aboard the Lane Train since the last search, and I want him as the caoa h, but man of Campbell is the guy, then there is a whole, whole lot worse Than we could've done.
Honestly, though, I don't know why Campbell wouldn't go to FSU if it's offered. And maybe that's his play here, but he'd be a hell of a hire.
My heart says Lane though. It would just be fun.

From what I’ve heard, their facilities aren’t that great. Their stadium is average. They aren’t as big of a deal as one would think, which is helping AR right now.

Florida State’s admin hasn’t put anything back in to the program thinking that they can do what they want on history and name recognition alone. They’re now suffering similar issues internally as Miami who also let their facilities deteriorate in comparison to their competition throughout the southeast.

Campbell has done really well at lesser schools. Dude is hungry. Recruiting in the South would be the only question.
Lane could recruit, but his results long term seem inconclusive due to his history being what it is.

Bad facilities are one thing, but the draw of a dogshit conference and you being right in the heart of the absolute most fertile recruiting ground in America I think would still be a big draw.
For some reason though, Fla. State never felt like a "blue blood" type program. And maybe that's why, their new money CFB power and are still living off glory of 20 yrs ago. Miami, kinda the same way, deep down the schools love the idea of winning, and love to talk about the good old days, but they're actually not really that all in.. Like say schools like Nebraska or even Arkansas are, where they have none of the built in advantages as Fla. Schools, but have spent and spent and the fanbases are still pretty rabid.
Btw, I also just read one guy (not in hogville) who said the Campbell stuff is just a big smoke screen and there are still candidates out there being considered as the finalists. Just take that as it may.

This is what I’m saying too. There’s no way it would be out like this today if this was actually legit. I would say this is just the flavor of the day like we’ve seen every other day this week.

All the coaches have been told not to be in the offices Monday or Tuesday. Only come back Wednesday. Perhaps only a late holiday break. Lol
Posted on 11/28/19 at 1:37 pm to Razorback Reverend
I hadn't heard that, but that's interesting. I'm gonna try to find out what that's all about later on and report back. It may be nothing but a holiday break like you said, but I don't remember them doing that before.
Regardless we are not announcing a coach on Monday or Tuesday like our favorite Tardville prognosticator suggests. I think HY is probably doing final interviews those couple days if anything.

Didnt Hy also say at the beginning or closely thereafter that he wanted to have this done by December 2nd timeframe?
Posted on 11/28/19 at 2:10 pm to Razorback Reverend
I think he did say something to that effect in his press conference, along with getting a guy in as fast as possible to get recruiting for the early signing period.
He seems far more aware and in touch with what needs to be done than Long ever was, and I think a few of our fans still have doubts because of Long. I fully believe HY has this under control and locked down, I have no worries he will mess this up in any way.
Fuente is still being floated by the Archer guy over there, by the way. Not my first choice but I could get behind it.
In no particular order, these are "THE guys" in the mix from gathering all sources:
Kiffin (so much smoke, TOO much)
Norvell (still a top candidate)
Fuente (picking up steam again)
Campbell (still don't see it)
Clark (long shot last resort)
Leach (super quiet on this front)
Fickell (out I think)
Who am I missing?
Posted on 11/28/19 at 2:16 pm to RazorBroncs
I think that about covers it
Posted on 11/28/19 at 2:24 pm to RazorBroncs
Except in order from what I'm hearing.
Campbell
Kiffin
Norvell
Leach
Fuentes
Fickell..out of it now
