I was down on Whaley going into last season, but I really like how things are setting up for him in Morris' scheme. He looked really comfortable during the spring game. He was able to show off patience, vision, and quick feet that I hadn't seen from him before.

Bold prediction: 1100+ yards, 5.8 YPC

I hope he's faster. It may have been the scheme, but he looked a step slow to me last year.

I'm looking for Boyd to be a surprise after he settles in to the system.

ETA: But if the line doesn't catch on very well, scratch all of the above.

Interested to see how they distribute the carries among him, Boyd, Hayden, Hammonds and Williams.

He definitely likes to spread the ball around but there’s still way too many mouths to feed in that group. Someone is going to get left out.

Matt Davis - QB - 187 attempts - 761 yards
Xavier Jones - RB - 151 attempts - 632 yards
Braeden West - RB - 62 attempts - 326 yards
Prescott Line - RB - 60 attempts - 186 yards
Darrell Colbert - RB - 30 attempts - 65 yards

2016:

Braeden West - RB - 202 attempts - 1036 yards
Ke’Mon Freeman - RB - 154 attempts - 651 yards
Xavier Jones - RB - 15 attempts - 140 yards
Matt Davis - QB - 14 attempts - 91 yards
Jordan Carmouche - RB - 15 attempts - 46 yards

If he has the “hot hand” then I’m more sure they’ll feed the beast than the last coaching staff.

I'm not sure how much offensive fit impacts a RB compare to other positions but Whaley ran an offense similar to this in high school. It was part of the reason I was initially higher on Kyle Porter. Katy ran a power offense and Porter was used to running out of the I formation whereas Whaley was used to receiving RPO gives from the gun.

Good point on Porter. On the plus side, most of the skill players on the team now came up through spread offense so hopefully that plays to our favor.

Still wish Crockett was on this team. Not saying we turn whaley away but I dont see why the fat man couldn't sign them both

We signed Whaley and Hammonds in that class who were both rated higher. Sucks we missed on him but tough to fault them for not taking 3 RBs in that class and sticking with the higher rated two.

In retrospect it might have been better for Crockett's career that he didn't get recruited here. Look at how Hammonds was misused. The best thing that happened to Crockett might have been Bielema ignoring him.

Just like Collins did before him. JWill is the only RB that Bielema properly managed from a S/C perspective.
