The fumble. That shite wouldn't happen to any other program in college football. Except maybe Ole Miss. Still, even with all that poor tackling again...

When we had a chance to come back and take the W, we have a bad snap, lose 8 yards, and then miss the FG in epic fashion.

We had Aggy backed up on a 2nd and 30 and we give up 31. We miss open field tackles and turn short gains and in to huge plays for our opponents.

Not gonna lie. This one pissed me off. Last week we weren't prepared. This week we melted down under the pressure. I'm not very confident in our staff right now.

From Sam

"I thought our secondary was better. We've still got to figure out how to play the ball"

This statement really pisses me off.

This is year three Sam and your still figuring out how to play the ball in the secondary?

Maybe recruit legit players and quit allowing walkons to fill roster spots.
We do have the portal Coach.

It feels like we were trending gradually towards a more professional approach until the last two weeks. We don’t have the talent for the sloppy made up on the fly shite that we saw yesterday.

Briles needs to consistently execute or gtfo. You can’t dominate the line of scrimmage and not score for 6 straight drives. That’s on him.

I’m seeing the pieces for a very good offense and he’s not closing the deal. Hazelwood, Landers, Sanders, Green, Dubinion, Jefferson, Hornsby, Knox etc are bona fide above average SEC players and our offensive line is mauling. As someone who watched Arkansas field talentless offenses for a decade I don’t say that lightly. The excuses are gone.

You serious Clark? You didn’t think our secondary played better than they did last week?

I mean....do they suck? Yeah. But that in no way cost us the game.

ArHog makes a good point though. That first TD for A&M should have been an INT if either DB plays the ball.

Why are we not going to Knox in the passing game more?

So the DBs are responsible for 7 of the 23 points they had and that cost us the game?

Our offense gave them more points than that

I didn't say that cost us the game, just saying that floater should have been picked off.

What cost us the game was KJ fumbling, Briles being Briles, stromberg choking, KJ suddenly becoming inaccurate in the second half and a fluke of a kick that goes in if we're a yard or two closer.

Those back to back missed throws by KJ in the third quarter likely cost us at least three pts.

We don’t really have a passing game. There are only a handful of non service academies that throw the ball as infrequently as we do.

We take the top off now and again but as far as moving the chains goes, that’s all done on the ground. Hazelwood is the player that is criminally underutilized IMO.

I agree there too.

I just looked and UMass is the only non service academy that passes the ball less frequently than Arkansas.

We were 82nd in percentage of plays that were passes in 2020, 122nd in 2021 and we’re 127th this year. Only 28% of our offensive plays yesterday were passes.

Kj made a bad read on that play. He had trips left only 2 defenders. Easy score with no reason to run it.

I’m worried that we’ll be known as an offense that doesn’t develop quarterbacks. KJ hasn’t been given the opportunity to become a great passing qb.

If we were lining up under center and crushing TOP, resting our defense and killing special teams then I’d be more ok with that approach.

Does that account for called pass plays that turn into scrambles?

No it’s just plays that involve an attempted pass.

I’m just starting to struggle with Briles offensive identity. I don’t think he’s a moron or a bad coach I just don’t know that I believe that the premise is a particularly good one. A dominant running game doesn’t have as many drive killing zero yard rushing attempts as ours does.

Running the ball 8 times for 5,3,7,5,4,8,2,6 is more efficient than running the ball for 19,-1,3,1,7,0,11 although your average yards per play would say they’re equivalent. In the second scenario you’re looking at multiple punts and in the first scenario you rarely have a stressful third down.

If you put your defense in the prone position KB puts his in with rapid fire uneven possessions you have to be genuinely potent when you have the football.

KJ isn’t going to be much more than he is now. He’s a decent QB but misses reads and makes some bad decisions from time to time.

I love KJ but he isn't a great passer and I doubt he ever will be. His best throws are on go routes and he is good on screen, shovel and swing passes. He can't hit anything over the middle to save his life. Especially slants. He has been VERY lucky not to have several ints on his middle throws.

Most of the time when he has success on throws over the middle is when the play has broken down and everyone is in scramble mode. That is usually when he is at his best. His running ability makes his passing seem a lot better than it is.

He is like Dak Prescott where his better passes were on the run.

In KJs defense, while he isn’t good over the middle, he does have very good touch on his long ball. Which makes the lack of a vertical threat frustrating
