Not a major surprise. While our defense was dismal this year the question of whether or not the fault lies with Bielema and his established scheme were bound to have another program interested in Rhoades. He's done well coaching defense everywhere else he's been, hopefully he does well down in UCLA.

He's also only being hired as DB coach, which he did an excellent job as here.

Seems Arkansas would've tried to keep him on as DB coach because of how well he did...

Yeah, I don't lay the defense's woes entirely at the feet of Rhoads. I still think he is good enough coach. We just didn't have the overall talent and speed.

Right, and DC coach for UCLA is hardly a bad landing spot.
When he came in Rhoads was talking about the important of press coverage, especially in third down situations, but we kept giving the same ten yard cushions we'd been giving all throughout the Bielema years. I'm not sure he ever got to run the defense he wanted to run or that Enos ever got to run the offense he wanted either.

I think it's a good landing spot. His only time coaching out west was at Pacific back in the early 90's so he'll probably have to learn the recruiting landscape. If he does well I'd imagine he'll be back to DC in a couple/few yrs.

Coaching defense for Chip Kelly doesn't exactly get you lots of future jobs....It's probably the worst system in football for a defense.

Paul Rhodes is a good guy wish him the best. hope ucla treats him well. he's a great db coach wish we would have kept him for that if possible

Mistype, thanks for catching that. DB coach is still a pretty good spot at UCLA. If he does good job he'll get a look at DC somewhere in the next year or two I would think.

Dude is a good coach. He is going to he coaching under Chip Kelly at frickin UCLA. Pretty good chance they win a title there.
