A million dollars for 91 players

Meanwhile A&M down their running shell corps and handing out 25 mil to its football program.

And I don't expect Hunter to get into that game. While he has done a great job so far, his we aren't paying big bucks mentality may bite him in the end when the program becomes a revolving door.

Also, I am starting to buy into the rumor that a NOLA guy got processed and the acted like children and left. Bishop and Jaylen Lewis both DB's and both tweeting they were Hogs 4 Life today.

According to catalon the DBs that left made a “business decision”.

He'll likely go somewhere in Texas (Baylor does make a lot of sense) and he'll probably win the Heisman.

Hunter NIL tweet

He had to tweet it to shut up some fans

Meh...I like Hunter, but not sure I cared for that tweet.

We're bragging about "approaching $1 million" in cumulative NIL money for our athletes, but that's small potatoes penny ante stuff compared to the 7 figure deals of several players and/or groups at other schools which are public knowledge at this point.

Also, I like Hunter, but that tweet could've sufficed without the chest beating over using NIL the right way and not for "recruiting or transfer" enticement. Rings hollow given the NIL money that A&M and Mizzou flooded into their recruiting efforts that helped them land blue chip laden classes. That callout felt Jeff Long-ish for my taste.

NIL for the state of Arkansas didn't go into law until a few days ago. The state of Texas has a lot more money than the state of Arkansas. Arkansas can't compete in anyway legal or illegal finances with larger states. It is why rules must be implemented or else small states like Arkansas will fall to the rear.

Would we accept that sort of money being spent though? Just a few weeks ago people on here were at each other's throats over the idea of paying Pittman a substantial raise.

Yes, it calmed down soon enough, but for a while there a lot of folks talking about it were all in favor of canning him on the spot and finding someone else.

If Hunter says we need to raise 15 million a year in NIL money to be competitive are the donors going to cough it up with a smile or declare "kiss my Arkansas @$$?" Historically speaking we are a cheap skate state... Though it is worth noting we also don't tend to have the financial meltdowns our neighbors have.

I am not sure the financial will power is there to go big bucks.

I think most people would much rather pay for 5 star players than coaches

If it was just about foot speed he would’ve started over Jefferson. He’ll Malik was the guy briles brought in as soon as they got here and Jefferson was the holdover from the previous staff so even if it was a wash talent wise Hornsby would’ve started. And you saw how he played vs the aggies. The kid cannot throw the ball that well. That may change but the only way we keep him is if we give him the job over kj which right now is ludicrous

I get it; And Im not blaming Pittman here. Would just have been nice to keep him (if the world was perfect). It was almost a foregone conclusion that Hornsby was leaving but damn....I just think this loss is huge.

I will be shocked if he doesnt land somewhere and blow up over the next 2-3 years. Would have loved if he did it here.

This is the kind of stuff Alabama doesnt have to deal with but will keep us from ever reaching a top-tier level in the SEC.

Actually alabama has dealt with it. They lost Alvin Kamara to Tennessee when they had TJ yeldon starting and brought in Derrick Henry the same class as kamara. Everybody knew kamara was talented but he wasn’t going to start over yeldon even if some believed he would eventually be better than he was and he probably knew he was going to play 2nd fiddle to Henry regardless

Pat White went to receiver in the pros.

I know pro football has changed, but has it changed enough that Malik or a Pat White could play now?

As far as I understand it he can’t. He can say to a booster, this kid might sign if he had some cash, but he can’t actually do anything.

I believe that would be a violation of title ix. Everyone has complained about paying players for years. Title ix is the reason it hasn’t been done.
