Global sports entertainment leader, Topgolf, announced its plans for its first location in Northwest Arkansas on Friday morning, according to a news release.

Topgolf is a sports entertainment venue that encourages people of all ages and skill levels to come together for a friendly competition.

Guests will be able to have access to point-scoring golf games using microchipped balls that instantly score themselves, showing players the accuracy and distance of their shots on a TV screen in their hitting bay, according to a news release.

Topgolf venues feature a chef-driven menu, top-shelf drinks, big screen TVs, flexible private event spaces and music in climate-controlled hitting bays for all-season comfort, according to a news release.

“We say that Topgolf is everyone’s game because it doesn't matter your age or golfing abilities, everyone can have fun at Topgolf,” said Chief Development Officer Chris Callaway. “We want to provide an additional entertainment destination and gathering place for the community to have a great time.”

The venue would sit on 11 acres near the Walmart AMP on South JB Hunt Drive. The company plans to lease the land from Hunt Ventures.

Topgolf officials say around 300 full-and-part time jobs would be created at this location.

“Northwest Arkansas has been on our road-map for a few years. The region is attractive to Topgolf for several reasons, including the strength of the local economy, continued population growth, and strong corporate presence,” said Callaway. “Together with Hunt Ventures, we are excited and working to finalize our business plans.”

Honestly this is the true rivalry. Most people in NWA don't care about central arkansas. It sucks when lil pebble blows our taxes trying to destroy a bridge with multiple failed attempts but ehhh.... we really don't care.

The real battle is between the big 3 of Bentonville, Rogers, and Fayetteville.

ADD: and Springdale is also improving.... so I guess it's really the battle of the big 4.

NWA has always been about local city rivalries, since the 1980s at least. Even before we had all of our "stuff" and had to drive to the "big city" to buy crap we didn't have here, the "big city" was Tulsa.

It's really Bentonville vs. Fayetteville. Springdale gets the scraps from Fayetteville.

Rogers only really has the Pinnacle area going for it because it's right on the Bentonville line. If you drive through and look at the new subdivisions they will hang huge banners showing they are in the Bentonville school district.

Most of Rogers and Springdale suffer because people don't want to send their kids to their public schools when there are much better options next door.

Can't really speak for Springdale but I live in Rogers. That must be one hell of a drop from 5 to 6

I like Rogers okay and I can't imagine going back to Washington county since moving here 2 years ago but there is a TON of white trash on the outskirts of Rogers and Bentonville. Yeah I know

The main issue people have with Rogers is not the education. It's the language issue. The perception is that there are too many there that don't speak English that are slowing down the ones that do.

Whether that's true or not I don't know, but I have heard grumblings from people with kids there and the perception is real.

Right on I know some of those people as well. For some of them it's not a language thing they just don't want their lids to mix which is unfortunate.

I like the Rogers downtown. They’re getting a lot of arts events and trying to partner with Bikes, Blues & BBQ to get some of their events to Benton County.

Plus they get credit for the AMP I learned the other day that Arkansas has the highest percentage of nonprofits of any state and Washington and Benton Counties have the most in Arkansas. Doesn’t really have anything to do with the topic but thought it was interesting.

You coudln't pay me to send my kids to Fayetteville Public Schools. The west side of Springdale is the white flight side with great schools, high test scores, and lots of money.

us news bases their ranking off percentage of kids enrolled in ap courses. not the number that PASS the test. when you put anyone in ap you skew the results

I've been pestering TopGolf's twitter for a good year now.

Glad to see it's finally coming to fruition. I'll be there every week. Love me some golf.
