One of CBB's statements... Kind of paints him in a corner.

"I've always said year five, that next year's season is kind of the defining moment of what you've been doing and what you're trying to get to," he (Bielema) said.

Is Tom Murphy the guy that is obsessed with Malzahn?

Odd Bert would say that considering he has never took on a program rebuild before.

True enough, but the statement itself is pretty much common sense.
I believe Bert HAD a 9 win team this year (which would have been acceptable and followed the upward trend) that managed to pull a 7 out of it instead. At worst, should have had 8 wins.

And to further the discussion...

It would be unfair and irresponsible to speculate names, but Mike Irwin believes that there were some locker room problems that caused a good deal of our problems this year. He believes that CBB didn't get it under control in time, and now is the time to do it.

It will be interesting to find out who finds a 'new home' and transfers out while saving face. CBB does seem to go to lengths to let coaches/players exit in that fashion.

I would think we will see 2 or 3 players do such shortly, in time to spend the spring practice with another team.

Irwin has been known to embellish and make news where none existed especially revolving around locker room stories...

Bert had a better team last year and the year before and had worse seasons. Bert if he was a better coach could have won 11 games last year and didnt.

Underachieving has been his M.O. every year since he got here.

Won 3 in 2013 but should have won 5 (Rutgers and LSU).
Won 7 in 2014 but should have won 10 or 11 (Alabama, A&M, MSU, and Mizzou).
Won 8 in 2015 but should have won 10 or 11 (Toledo, Tech, A&M and MSU).
Won 7 in 2016 but should have won 9 (Mizzou and Va. Tech).

If Irwin were correct, I would really think we would be on a few more JUCO kids this recruiting cycle though.

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but I think it's hard to say he should have won every close game. Sometimes you win close games, other times you lose. We shouldn't have won 4th and 25 against Ole Miss, but we did.

But given the trend of improvement we've shown, I agree we should have won 9 or even 10 this year.

It's pretty vague, he'll say the problems were with the defensive staff if a few coaches are replaced. Or he could be reporting one side of a story as fact again like what got him banned by his employer and fired like last time.

5 news DGAF about sports coverage. Irwin moved on to KNWA, they do GAF about sports coverage even though AP was a dumbass and lost his job.

He was fired from channel 5.

He did move on, but not by his choice...

There were 100% locker room and player vs staff issues this year. I have no idea what the causes were, but this year's team had a disfunctuonal locker room. Heard this from players, TIFWIW. Hope next year it all gets put together because there is a lot of talent on these teams that keep finishing with 7-8 wins

True, but several of those losses listed were pretty sizeable leads we blew and not close games until late.

I lol at the locker room problems. Losing the games the way we did, sure there were locker room problems.

Win those games and there are way fewer problems. Common Sense to me...

I felt all year that this team had poor senior leadership.

As bad as where it comes from is, it is confirmation bias to me.

Always some excuse.

And Mike Irwin is an absolute tool. Look how badly he got the entire Mustain fiasco wrong.

Will never take him seriously after that one. Jackass.

Brooks ellis as a leader is a joke. If you remember all his interviews he never wanted to lead or really cared to. He was just happy to play
