Barford, Beard, Macon, and CJ Jones were the only players on our roster to attempt a 3 pointer this game. Who exactly do you think is "good defense" to allow to shoot an open 3?
Hint: 3 of them shoot over 40% from 3 on the year and the other one perennially shoots roughly 35%.

We missed several wide open threes
I don't recall a lot of wide open threes. I just remember us jacking up shots ASAP.
I hate to be negative, but I just have no interest in watching playground ball.

Beard missed a shite ton of open looks. Barford missed a few too.

so basically what we've learned so far this year: when we click this season we're really good.
When we don't click we can still beat mediocre teams.

Year 7
This is where I get really annoyed. After 6 seasons we have two trips to the NCAA tourney and only two opening round wins to show for it. Year 7, we have the most veteran team in the country and can barely win games.
As pointed out earlier, Frank Martin took SCAR to the F4 last season. Pearl has Auburn rolling. Barnes has Tennessee going. Bama just beat the same team today that we call our signature win for the season. We have 4 blowout losses with the worst being LSU at home.
Maybe we can keep winning ugly and peak right before postseason play. It would sure be nice, for a change, to not have to play as a 9 seed or even have to come back from being double digits behind.
I'm done melting though. I'm ready for baseball.
Btw, where has Hawgeye gone. I haven't seen a post from him in a long time.

I give up. If you guys want to brush all this shite under the rug because you love Mike so much, then go ahead. I'll just shut my mouth and hope that we make drastic changes/development in our in-game leadership before March.

Meh, we're about to make our 3rd straight NCAAT.

A miracle run, currently a projected NIT team this year. Doesn't mean much if you can't sustain.

No, it will be 3 out of 4

The question is how many Bobby Portises and Daniel Gaffords is Mike going to be given before he actually produces something? These are some of the best players this state has produced in years. First round NBA draft picks and he can't get past the first weekend. He can't lock down all of the top talent in this state and doesn't perform with the top talent he does get on campus. How long do we want to wait? It's been 7 fricking years.

Point still remains the same, you can't use the first couple of years as a knock on MA and then ignore the 3 trips to the NCAAT on the other side of it.

You know who else is happy with just making the tournament? Bucknell. We are not Bucknell. We're widely considered to be a top 20 program all-time. We shouldn't "just make" the tournament. I don't think asking for more than one win in the tournament at a program like ours at least once in SEVEN years is asking too much, especially when you preach a philosophy that brought us a natty.

Most of the people who are displeased aren't ignoring them. They want a sweet 16 trip in there as well.

Meh, throw in a sweet 16 this year and give CMA another raise+extension for all I care.
This dumpster fire program is about make the postseason for the 4th time in the last 5 seasons and 3 of the last for 4 in the NCAAT with the only miss being a reload year.
I'll take that over a miracle final four run and going right back to irrelevancy like ScatCar.

You excuse the year we missed as a reload year but you don't apply the same logic to SCar this year even though they lost clearly their best player?
Posted on 1/27/18 at 10:47 pm to Drewbie
Might want to check what SCar has done.
Posted on 1/27/18 at 10:48 pm to Drewbie
It isn't as it makes no sense to what you replied to.
Posted on 1/27/18 at 10:52 pm to UltimateHog
So a final four team losing their best player and being clearly worse for it a year later isn't considered a rebuild to you? SCar signed two four star commits last year. Same exact number as us since Garland isn't playing.
