Dude he just lost the starting job at WKU. He wasn't winning anything in the SEC.

So he lost out to a Redshirt Jr who played in the system and started 5 games last year and played in 9? I don't care if he was winning anything for us this year or not. Making him and CK the scapegoats for Bert's lack of recruiting on the offensive line is stupid.

No one is making them scapegoats for the lack of recruiting at O-Line. They're pointing out the lack of good recruiting at QB. Which is blatantly apparent in how both QBs we started lost jobs at tiny programs. You gonna blame the O-line for them not starting at their new schools too? We all know the O-line wasn't great. That doesn't mean either of them were the caliber of QB required to play at this level.

Also WKU won 3 games last year and fired their coach, so the system thing is bs. Losing to the guy that led them to that isn't an accomplishment, either.

I'm not going to shite on them. They didn't stand a chance behind that offensive line and they sure as hell took a beating and kept going when they could have just sat out.

That being said, it's okay to also accept that they just weren't SEC quarterbacks. If you're an SEC caliber quarterback, you win the starting job at WKU. I don't care if you're against a 6th year senior that has a photographic memory of the playbook.

Bingo.

I also think the meaning behind this thread is being misconstrued. I seriously doubt anyone is here just to bash on the kids. It's more a slight towards the enlightened few who think Morris just fricked up the offense and can't coach. Now it's proven we didn't even have a QB good enough to start in the friggin Southland Conference.

Someone has to start a thread on the Rant about how we were pubic hairs away from beating LSU and A&M last year with QBs that can't start at WKU and SELA.

Four star, number 2 recruit in our class with a bunch of Power 5 offers was actually bad. But Starkel, a three star with fewer offers who transferred to the worst team in the SEC, he's good.

Everyone knows busts/underperforming players never happen

Noland P5 offers:

Kentucky
Missouri
North Carolina
Ole Miss
Penn State
Texas A&M
UCLA

Starkel transfer P5 offers:

Arizona
Ohio State
Florida State
Duke

Not really that much different other than quantity. Ohio State and Florida State are arguably better than any of Noland's offers. He's actually done something in the SEC and not at Greenwood High School.

Based on past success, generally speaking give me a Texas 3 star QB with solid offers over an Arkansas 4 star QB with solid offers.

One win against Ole Miss.

I was comparing them out of high school because that's fair.

I think it's more fair to compare their transfer destinations once they actually showed what kind of players they were on a college campus.

I agree, I edited my comment. Starkel ended up on a 2-10 team that finished dead last in the league. What does that say about the kind of player he is?

Says that he wanted to start in the SEC while Ty couldn't even win a starting job for a 3-9 Conference USA team.

We were comparing Noland and Starkel's offers. No one is arguing that Ty Storey is better than Starkel.

You could say that about the majority of our recruiting class that had “better offers” too. If no one wanted to go to Arkansas because we were 2-10 then we would be 2-10 in perpetuity.

Oh, right. Reading and whatnot.

I'm not going to obsess over that one then because there's no real answer to settle on. Comparing high school production and interest to college production and interest is really just apples to oranges.

There's no way you're naive enough to think stars=talent level at 100% accuracy. Greg Childs was a 3 star. Chris Gragg was a 3-star. Brandon Allen was a 3-star. Philon, Sprinkle? 3-Stars. Drew Morgan? 2-stars.

Meanwhile Marquel Wade, Storey, Funderburk were 4-stars.

You've repeatedly argued that this is the best class we've ever had because of all the four stars. Make up your mind.
