You are leaving out the part where this is year 8 and he only made the tournament 3 times, has two NCAA tournament wins, a losing NCAA tournament record, and never advanced past to the second weekend of the tournament.

Do you think if he had made the elite 8 twice in those 8 years that he would have been fired? You yourself said if he didn’t make the sweet 16 he should be fired. He didn’t even make the tournament and now you say he was treated unfairly

I'm just failing to see the difference between those two coaches.

And that is why you can never have this conversation honestly. Perfect example is you using winning the conference as some metric. I have never once seen you bring that up regarding Anderson.

Is it because he almost beat the National Champs in post season play? Anderson did the same.

Notice how you needed to word that to make that spin work

I think we treated Mike unfairly,

I know and this is exactly where this is coming from but still unjustified

Maybe our fans can suggest some staff changes for him to make

Maybe or he could just refuse to make any because he doesn't care

You must have missed that thread I made where I said if he doesn't win the SEC tournament title he needs to go.

By the time it was over I was in agrreance that Mike needed let go, but really that's only because there were too many folks beating the war drums. It's kinda like being "peered out" of Army Ranger school. Part of your job as a coach is to keep the fanbase happy.

It doesn't matter what I think about him as a coach. I wanted him gone because he wasn't doing a good enough job politicking. I think the man is a fine ball coach and would have eventually gotten it done. It was just growing to the point of that not being possible when every Tom Dick and Harry is calling for his job.

not sayin DVH should be fired but geez he had to know that game was big for the state and he couldn't go tank it like that.
I'm pretty pissed.
Grand scheme of things the game doesn't matter much but geez it's a bad look.

The past few days have revealed a few chinks in the armor, but I still think this team will host a regional. Gonna back off my Omaha prediction though, I got a little excited after that first Texas game.

Boared you yourself called this a rebuilding season in baseball right? Considering that we came in 2nd place last year in the entire country that seems fair. Well IN DVH’s rebuilding year we are still a top 15 team in the country who will host a regional and most likely make it to at least the baseball equivalent of the sweet 16.. in a rebuilding year. Also he didn’t throw an ace because it’s a midweek game and it’s fricking baseball. Losses happen. You yourself have admitted you know very little about the sport yet here you are saying your not trolling when using a one game sample size.

Oh yeah. They're good, no doubt about it.

I'm glad to see one other person at least say they're pissed about getting beat by Little Rock like that.

Any other sport and that's considered a damn near terminable offense. I couldn't even imagine what would happen if ANY basketball or football coach here lost to UALR.

ETA: not only lost, but if they got their arse kicked by UALR. 17-7?? WTF?

Van Horn gets leniancy that our other coaches don't get.

And yes, I spun the title game appearance last year. But the point stands. Both Van Horn and Mike Anderson nearly beat the National Champs. Doesn't matter which round it happens in, the champs are the champs.

Jesus just shut the frick up and don’t ever talk baseball again because you clearly have zero concept of the sport. In football and basketball you have the same guys out their every week! Baseball you don’t! You save arms you give guys breaks during midweeks you understand that losses happen. If van horn felt like it we could have pitched Campbell played it like game 3 of the cws final and won but that meant literally fricking nothing so why would he! If you are honestly not trolling you are one of the dumbest motherfrickers on this entire site when it comes to baseball. For your sake I hope you are trolling Jesus.

It does matter what round because making it to the championship game shows consistency and the reason we didn’t Olay the champ until the finals is because we had a great regular season and were awarded a top seed in the tournament something mike knew nothing about!

UCA beat Okie Lite

Mid week games are meaningless

The bigger issue is pitching depth and timely hitting

Now ya see, I didn't come in here cussing or insulting anyone. Dumb motherfricker? We gave up SEVENTEEN frickING RUNS TO LITTLE ROCK, dipshit.

That isn't good no matter who you have on the mound. They should be outclassed by Arkansas as if they're a fricking high school team.

Keep your head in the sand, man.

The thing about baseball is you can never judge a team by a single game. It is the most on or off sport out there. Look at MLB records for 2017 the best team won 66% of their games and the worst won 40%. In baseball you lose, often to inferior teams especially midweek games. I wish we didn't look like arse but its not the end of the world.

Sounds like with Arkansas you either throw your ace or some kid from down the road at Fayetteville High. Almost literally.

Anyways, sorry for making the thread and taking jabs. I'm surprised there aren't more people upset about that though. Giving up 17 to an inferior opponent.

As someone else said, he should have understood what this game would mean to the state and he should have had his guys ready to compete. He should have coached to win the game.

But whatever. I'm "trolling" if I speak critically of him. frick off, the lot of ya.

Let's have a little academic exercise. Who would you hire to replace DVH?

Why does anybody care about midweek games? The only thing they're good for is developing your young pitchers.

What's fair is fair, Rockiee. This is year 15. We shouldn't be losing to B league squads in year 15. We damn sure shouldn't be getting beat by 10 runs in year 15 to a juco squad.

If Mike would've got us to a Natty title game he'd be here until he retired. He didn't even make a 16 so go away
