Dead serious. This is a moment drunk clairvoyance.

We have always been fantastic trolls, myself not included, because as Arkansas fans we should understand the sheer lack of magnitude sports should have on our lives. Hear me out...

We don't have a pro-team. We're a historically downtrodden state. So our fanbase takes huge pride in our collegiate athletics. So.. Hogville exists because as human beings we want to push back and say where our existence matters (please no BLM jokes). Long story short... because Hogville exists... a counterculture developed over time from state residents that recognized the sheer stupidity of the group think involved with the state of mind I title "Hogville" (hence legally noted as "ville").

The counterculture came here that I followed it for years... because we understood how easy it was to troll the ville of other SEC fans, especially those coonass LSU fans. I had different accounts through '06 till whenever I started this fricking thing because I was too fricked up in HS and undergrad to remember my password. It was great.

So here's the question. Why do we melt? Why? Why do we have this hope knowing mounds of counterfactual evidence? Why do I know for the rest of my life... I'll cheer even though there's probably somewhere between a 0.3%-5% (2-3 STDEVs) chance we'll win a natty? I'll buy tickets? I don't even live in the fricking state I grew up in, so why do I still knuckle up and get south Arkansas rowdy at mother frickers that say negative shite about the natural state? Why did I start talking shite to my Columbia business school professors during the WalMart case that ask "why would someone move to Bentonville"? Why are we sooo proud when our team seems to swing above our weight class?

Everyone on this board knows there is no reason to melt.. but we do... so I ask... why do you melt?

I'll start..... I melt because my biggest motivator has been a chip on my shoulder, and when Arkansas loses I feel like that's not enough.

I don't really melt too hard. I have other diversions in my life aside from sports. I simply don't care that much anymore.

If I am going to spend $ going to games, I'd prefer a better product.

I can't imagine how folks live and die by something as puerile as college sports anymore. Maybe I'm just getting old....

I wish we'd stop being so damn black and white. Being displeased with the result of the garbage being put onto the field doesn't mean you're melting. But if that's the definition of melting and I've just misunderstood, then so be it. I'm melting. Oh well. Doesn't hurt a damn thing.

I get in a down mood when we lose, but it doesn't control my life. That being said, sports fandom IS an addiction. And people like us are the worst, even if we do manage to keep perspective. Maybe we're not the type of grown men who cry after a loss or something, but we get on sites like these every day to see how recruiting is going, get practice reports, talk about what we can reasonably expect from the players and coaches, etc. When you invest emotionally in something, it matters.

I "melt" because we're in a hopeless and unwinnable situation, and even though I know we're never going to have a USC or Alabama dynasty, I have strong beliefs that it can be a lot better and that it doesn't have to be this way. Yet it is this way, and will continue to be this way for the foreseeable future.

I melt because Bielema isn't anything at ALL what we were expecting. He doesn't resemble the slightest of what we were sold from the results of his time at Wisconsin. He's an old school coach who's defensive minded, who believes in building teams from the inside out. Tough and disciplined. Where is our fricking defense? Where is the bruising run game? Why do we keep committing stupid penalties that cost us games? Why do we have a player shoplifting before a bowl game? We're going into year five and it looks like he's spent the past four years jerking off.

If this coach was anything like he was supposed to be - a safe, proven hire from a power conference with an established style and identity, as well as the work ethic of a young, hungry coach - then we would have been poised for a great year. This SEC is dogshit for the first time in nearly two decades. It's pretty clear that we're not going to ever win 10+ games every season, but you can't put up 7 wins when the SEC was as strong was it was in 2014, and then put up 7 wins when it's as weak as it is this year.

I'll happily put up with winning seven and eight games a year from this guy, because I know that's the kind of brutal schedule we have most years. It's not sustainable for a fan base to put up with 7 or 8 wins the way we're doing it. The Missouri game was an atrocity that we never should have lost. This game was a word-for-word plagiarism of it. How do you have two games like that back to back and still expect any support? How do you go 5–3 in the SEC and still end at 8–5? I guess it just slipped Bert's mind that we were supposed to play Toledo and Texas Tech on those weeks. Oops.

The guy is a joke and he's turning something we love into a joke. That's worth being pissed off about. Teams that are lesser than Arkansas have fired coaches for these kinds of results. He wouldn't have even made it this far at a greater school. I'm melting because I'm fricking terrified to play teams like Louisiana Tech.

I don't anymore. I did every year of my life but that ended with this season. Beilema managed to drain that passionate part out of me. I still watch and I still get excited.. but, now I expect a collapse.

He has yet to let me down. Looking back Toledo and Tech were our big red flags. I knew it then but chose to stick my head in the sand.

I enjoyed the US Open more this year.... pretty damn sad. I gave up on Bret awhile back. Somehow the lazy frick managed to chip away my passion as a CF fan.

As for TD, I'm more entertained on the travel board these days.

I just stopped spending money. Went on some awesome hikes/floats in the NWA area this year during several games, the weather was perfect.

People need to branch out

I probably won't renew my tickets next year. It's gotten to that point.

I try not to on this board. I was certainly pissed after both the losses but what does melting really accomplish? I guess it helps some people vent. Obviously, its good for us to let the Athletic department know we are not pleased.

Oops I meant to upvote and did the opposite. But he has a point. I usually try to keep my frustrations to myself and troll other people, mainly because they get very upset when their team beat me and they think I'm supposed to be crying to the heavens or kowtowing to the greatness of their team.
